To resolve the slowness and performance issues, please try the troubleshooting solutions below:
1. Clear the Footprints in the new AOL Desktop. Here’s how you clear the Footprints: a. In the top left corner of the AOL Desktop window, click “Edit” then choose “Select Footprints to Clear” from the drop-down menu. b. Select “Clear Footprints” from the Browser Settings. No need to wait for a confirmation message, the Footprints will be cleared immediately.
2. Restart the computer. This helps clear the internal memory (RAM), which often resolves many issues. This article provides the steps to restart the PC: https://help.aol.com/articles/restart-the-computer
3. Enable only the essential startup programs. Multiple programs may have been set to start automatically when a computer is turned on. These programs may cause the computer to slow down, and affect other running applications. I especially hate it when I'm typing an email and AOL slows to a crawl, takes several seconds to fill in the words I'm typing. Often it freezes completely. I often have to close it with Windows Task Manager and re-open it , only to have it freeze again. Sometimes it freezes the entire computer and my only recourse is to power the computer off.

The best way too improve AOL is go back to old AOL NOT THE GOLD.
AOL GOLD ****............ Favorites is all messed up. Go back to old favorites. You can't add to toolbar, has no icons for it either. The biggest thing is IT IS VERY SLOW EVER SINCE I SWITCHED TO GOLD.
AOL go into my pc tried to help it. All AOL wants to do is sell you a package deal to try to fix it. Its all about money. I cleaned up my pc and defraged it also to get rid of junk files. It is still much slower than the old AOL. Why so you give us a broken program, that should have been corrected before you tried to make us take it. Now all you want to do is sell us more junk. I think you all slowed down our PC just like the cell phone people did. Hope you can sleep at night morons. -

Gold can take up to 20 seconds to get into the Internet! UNACCEPTABLE!
It takes too long for a Sent email to clear! UNACCEPTABLE!
When typing in the Write Page, the cursor many times will jump to a lower part of the page! UNACCEPTABLE!
The Undo feature under the Edit tab does not always work! UNACCEPTABLE!
When opening up a New Email, it takes 5 seconds or more to show the contents page! UNACCEPTABLE!
BRING BACK THE EASY AND USER FRIENDLY 9.8 Version!
If not, I may choose another provider that is more simplistic and user friendly!

Since BEING REQUIRED to use this GOLD it SUCKS it's like using DIAL UP. I'm almost waiting to hear the old tones as I log in. Emails don't Load Response is SLOW this WHOLE GOLD BLOWS
