First you took away stationery and vast choice of fonts, emojis, etc. Then you changed how mail is set up (from new, old, sent, spam, deleted mail to current style) and the Spam settings from numerous choices to only one (blocked). it seems the longer we continue to PAY for AOL Gold, the less we are getting for our money. I recently had my mailbox hacked. I received a large Dropbox file from a person known to me. I made the mistake of opening it! 10 days later, the same file was sent to my entire address book.
Here is the full content of a 'bounced' message that I DID NOT SEND:

GO GET / BLOCK THESE BASTARDS!!!

J. Padulo commented
I seem to get a lot of spam and I continually try to "unsubscribe" which is a pain in the hat, particularly when there are two places at the bottom of each unwanted ad, each of which require that I insert my email address. Two suggestions - in that the sender knows my email address and also knows the mfg'r (the actual vendor) AND the agent forwarding the email - 1) combine both "unsubscribes" into one unsubscribe & 2) eliminate the need to type my email address at all and merely provide a single button to UNSUBSCRIBE. Do so would please everyone - the Mgf'r who made the product can advertise, the agent can collect his fee for peddling its mailing list and in passing I would just have to click a button.

Ridiculously poor spam filter. I click "This is Not Spam" over and over and over again for email from the same source and NOTHING changes. Couldn't possibly be worse. Disgraceful! How hard is it to allow users to turn it OFF!!!! And to think I'm paying for this?

Yet another admin@...., fix@...., lan@...., goldwild@...., from@...., random number or character@...., support@.... type spam email. Do something AOL!
How many of these BS emails (currently 100+ GoldWild. ////////////) will it take for AOL to deny all mail from this list? You've got to have an electronic way to sort out these BS mass mailers or fix the filter to allow me to name their @website.domain or the GoldWild name as an automatic delete filter!

Bring back old MAIL with AOL...This new AOL mail system sucks big time

The reply fro AOL is dated July 3. PLEASE GET THIS DONE!!! You are interfering with my mail and your spam filter is WORTHLESS.

I have had 290 spam emails - I repeat 290 spams!!! - arrive in my "Spam Folder" since Sept 1st (only 12 days ago). That's almost 25 a day! How are these generated? If our only control is blocking each spam as it arrives, how can I possibly block all that??? What else can be done? By the way, my husband gets none!!! So, why me? What's going on? Enough is enough! What am I paying for?
-
Delsie Foreman commented
The number of spam emails I now receive is ridiculous (I received 29 over last night!!!), and I see no reason why I should continue to pay a fee for this kind of intrusion I never asked for!!! Your plan to restore the old spam controls can't come soon enough!!!!

This Customer said it. And now my spam went from 5/8 to 41 or 60.

I am getting overloaded from spam that starts with newsletter@. The rest is different so it makes it extremely difficult to block.
-

The spam filters in AOL Gold are sorely out of date. Spammers are filling my inbox with new domains and there is no wildcard filter. Sad.
-
Herman Hutchinson commented
I tried adding email addresses to the blocklist but since there was no option to save the changes, I continued getting mails from those senders.
-
M commented
The sooner the better! I spend way too much time deleting SPAM that should have been blocked in the first place. I have put entries into the 'block' settings every way possible, and it is just not working. I am getting up to 30 spam messages a day, all from the same domain and can do absolutely nothing about it. (this is not happening with my 'other' e-mail address - why is AOL so difficult to deal with on this matter?)
-
Fran West commented
I have multiple problems: 1) completing the To: field. I used to be able to auto complete by pressing the "enter" key. That is gone and I have to stop and use my mouse to highlight the appropriate person; 2) I used to be able to compose emails off-line. Gone. 3) The "new" AOL desktop doesn't recognize that I already have both Adobe Flash AND Adobe PDF on my computer. I do. AOL desktop ignores. 4) My SPAM controls no longer work at all. I've blocked out what should be all email addresses starting with "Newsletter" (the bulk of my SPAM) but now I get ALL of them, usually about 25 each time I sign on. 5) I used to be able to go on-line invisibly, especially handy in the day of the IM that AOL offered. That has been taken away so I am now subject to all the SPAM that I don't want because everyone, including the NSA can now see me...and I'm doing nothing illegal. 6) It takes forever to sign on and forever to get the indication that my email was sent. This is becoming useless as an email provider for me. I simply want things back the old way; much more convenience and faster to use.

You say, "Great news! Based on your feedback we’re restoring some legacy spam controls. There isn’t a specific date when they’ll be available, but they are on our roadmap and will be added soon." Well for Pete sake, GET TO IT! And let us know when it's restored and how to use it. Look at the huge number of complaints you're getting about this! --Don

I am a 60 year old woman (not a lesbian) who is happily taken. I do not enjoy receiving about 5 to 20 spam emails a day with pictures of **** nude women. I also do not enjoy receiving 2 or 3 of the same spam email for cbd oil, overweight products, pain treatments, beneficiary emails (how can I be a beneficiary to so many people?), lottery winning emails for lotteries I have never heard of or entered, etc. The list goes on and on and on. I am severely disgusted with all this spam email. I have another email that I use for my accounting business and I have to view all the spam to make sure that the email is not from a client. I spend 1/2 hour to 45 minutes every day just going through my spam. That is how many emails I receive a day. I have spoken to AOL more than once about this and nothing is being done. I was actually told to leave the spam and ignore it. Again, I cannot due to clients emails sometimes ending up in my spam mail. I also keep getting 2 to 10 emails telling me that my email could not be delivered to Aircool. Every Aircool email has a different number following Aircool therefore I cannot block the email. Any Suggestions?

What good is your spam controls if I constantly get inundated with e-mails from newsletter@xyz All have "newsletter" as the address but each one is a different domain. I have tried to exclude all email with the address "newsletter" it by entering a rule rejecting mail from newsletter* but the only thing it does is drop them in the spam folder. I don't want to see them! Are your rules and spam controls all just a joke.

How can I block spam from newsletter@*.us ? I get some every day (today I have 36 of them), for example: newsletter@******************.us, newsletter@*********.us, newsletter@**************.us, newsletter@********************.us, newsletter@**************.us, newsletter@*******************.us, etc.

Jan commented
Blocking emails with particular words in the subject line prevented almost all spam emails. Without that feature i'm getting between 60-90 A DAY!! Please add it back. Typing in individual spam addresses is time consuming & ineffective.
