Hi. Any clue why secure AOL passwords for using third-party apps in Germany are no longer generated, but commented with a no-function message? Quote: "Diese Funktion ist derzeit leider nicht verfügbar!"
ThxDue to some recent changes designed to improve the safety of our platforms and member privacy, we’ve made the process to create App Specific Passwords more secure. This can result in some difficulty when trying to set up an ASP from a new device.
Please ensure that you try creating an app password without using an Incognito browser and use a browser where you have signed into that account in the past, for at least a couple of days. If this is not successful, there may not be a workaround; as we don't know if or when this feature will be available, we encourage you to use Webmail or the AOL Mail app to access your email.

fix outlook mail settings for verizon.net accounts
why suddenly in Outlook are my verizon.net settings getting changed to yahoo settings? And can't generate app password on aol site.
We're very sorry app passwords are unavailable for AOL Mail accounts. While we upgrade our services, the feature has been temporarily removed. We don't have an ETA on when this will return but we encourage you to check back in the future for updates on the restoration of this feature. Rest assured, you can still access your mail from the AOL app or via a web browser. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Password Reset
I find it appalling that when trying to retrieve my password online I have no options to enter in recovery information so I can do it myself, but when calling your customer service line they have recovery information to verify my ID and are unwilling to reset my password unless I pay for a subscription for customer care. This is absolute black mail! I will be using Gmail moving forward--sad since I've had my emails for 23 years now-- AOL are you so obsolete they only way you make money is to charge for tech support?!!
Hi. We'd love to offer free phone support to everyone, however, free phone support is an expensive service to maintain for a free service. Most free email providers do not have any option for phone support. We care about our users, and wanted to be able to have phone support for those who want the live agent experience, and have worked hard to put together a plan that has value for everyone in order to achieve that.
You can always recover your account online for free as long as you have access to your account recovery information (mobile phone number/recovery email address). Our phone support team is there to verify that you are the rightful owner of the account by other means of verification, I'm sorry for the inconvenience this might have caused you!

Switch between two email accounts for incoming emails.
I have searched for over an hour to find a way to easily switch between two email accounts for incoming emails. I find the main one, and then the second one, but I cannot find where I can switch (easily) I have two accounts that I need to check. How can I do that? It's easy on my android phone app, but not on my desktop.
If you are using AOL web-mail (mail.aol.com) you will need to sign out of an account, from the top right corner of the page, then sign back in using another account. Unfortunately AOL web-mail does not have a switch account feature.

Eliminate the "unusual activity" messages every time I login.
Stop sending "unusual activity" messages and requiring a 4-character code from another source EVERY TIME I login. Give me the ability to disable this at login. Send me a warning email instead.
If there's something unusual about your sign in or recent activity, we'll ask you to go through another verification step after you've entered the correct password. This helps protect your account from unauthorized access. You may be prompted to get a verification code on your AOL app, recovery phone number, or recovery email address for any of the following reasons:
AOL notices suspicious account activity.
You're using an unfamiliar browser or device.
You're traveling away from your usual location.
You sign in while using a VPN or a proxy server.
You've logged in with a private or incognito window.
There are many attempts to sign in with incorrect passwords.
The "First time signing in from this device" message appears.
You've cleared your browser history or data cache including cookies.

Mail Security/Nickname
Hi, I have the following improvement: You should be able to set or use your nickname as a public name. Since the correct name is automatically sent with e-mails, it is quite insecure and man. You don't want every idiot you write to have your full name either...
Thanks in advance
The name that gets sent with your emails can be customized, as it is separate from your account's name. Here's how you can change your sending name: https://help.aol.com/articles/change-your-sending-name-in-new-aol-mail

New AOL email is not displaying desktop notifications on Windows 10
I switched to new AOL email when I saw that I could enable desktop notifications on Windows 10; done in the Settings, along with a sound option. While I do hear a sound when new email arrives, I do not see desktop notifications in the Action Center; neither a pop-up, nor in the Action Center's list of notifications. How can I make that happen?
Make sure your notifications are also enabled in browser settings. If the issue persists, please contact us at help.aol.com and we'll look into it.

How can I remove the try new AOL mail link?
How can I remove the "Try the new AOL Mail" link? I keep hitting it by mistake and have to figure out how to go back to the classic version.
The new AOL Mail interface is planned to become permanent in the future, so the prompt cannot be removed. If you have any suggestions on how we can improve the New AOL Mail, please let us know. For now you can revert it by accessing your Mail Settings.

Remove alias email address from my email account
vzen1ckxtp@verizon.net Please get a picture that will remove alias created in the account.
Thank you for reaching out to us.
This is your email alias, which was automatically created when your Verizon email account was setup.
The alias in no way changes your user name and does not create a new mailbox; it becomes the mailing name associated with your primary account and is immediately ready to use in order to send and receive email on.
To setup your default Send From address in AOL Mail (in case it's setup to be the alias instead of your username), click on Options on the top right corner of the AOL Mail page, select Mail Settings from the drop-down menu, go to the Compose tab on the left side, and select the address from which you want to send mail by default from the "Send From Address" section.
Please let us know if you have other questions or concerns. -
Customer emails continue to go to spam after marked NOT SPAM and App Passowrds not working
since you have upgraded your spam detecting on my emails - the majority of emails that I get are now in spam. I have repeatedly marked them as not spam as instructed by tech support but it continues daily. I have 2 of my email accounts that are used for business and the majority of those emails are associated with a domain name of @Lanterds.com. I need a way to allow those emails to not be marked as spam- some are critical and time sensitive- I should not have to check my spam folder 6- 10 times a day to…
Recently you may have noticed an increase in email going to the Spam folder for senders using Office 365 and other Microsoft products. We are in the process of addressing this issue and expect it to improve over the next several days. Please keep marking the mail in the Spam folder as “not spam” or “ham” and that will help to correct the issue. Thanks for your patience.
We're very sorry app passwords are currently unavailable for AOL Mail accounts. Rest assured, you can still access your mail from the AOL Mail app or via a web browser. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

birthdate
Member wants to update her birthdate on her personal information.
For security reasons, it isn't possible to update or change the date of birth listed on your AOL account, even if you entered it incorrectly when you first registered your account. You'll need to open a new account if you'd like your account to reflect your accurate info.

I only want "UNREAD EMAILS"!
I only want to see my unread emails. NOT thousands of others that were read.
Hi there,
I recommend going to Options>Mail Settings>General then at Inbox Style choose ''Use New/Old style" Then click Save Settings.

Let me re-register my first ever email address.
It was deleted for inactivity, I don't see the point of not allowing me to use the same username. It was my first ever email address and special to me, I would really like the option to re-register the username.
Unfortunately, for account security of any associated services or accounts, users will not be able to reactivate it or re-create the same email address.

Problems with instructions on third party app password creation
Received an email regarding the need to change how third party app (such as Apple iPhone mail or Thunderbird) would login to retrieve AOL mail. The instruction suggests the creating of an app password to be used by the third party app. The problem with the instruction (on https://help.aol.com/articles/allow-apps-that-use-less-secure-sign-in) is that under Thunderbird step 4 stated "Remove Account" --if you do this you will lose all your previous emails in that box. I have important sensitive business mail I need to preserve so this method won't work for me (i.e. removing account and creating a new one).
Hi there,
As we all know, technology is continuing to change and improve. While the connection you have been using may still work and was once the best, a better, more secure option is available. Basic auth is an older authentication method. A more secure authentication method called OAuth2 is now available. To ensure your account remains secure, we are requiring all applications to support OAuth2.
We recommend using the AOL Mail website and AOL email app so we can ensure you’re always using the most secure sign-in technology when accessing your email.
If you prefer to continue accessing your AOL email on your current third-party email application, including the default email application on your mobile phone, please see details below on how to ensure it’s syncing with the latest secure sign-in method: https://help.aol.com/articles/allow-apps-that-use-less-secure-sign-in
You can reach out to Thunderbird support to help you with their app’s settings or you…
