WARNING this is a crazy and impersonal greeting
I am sure this note will not be read by anyone in AOL. So this is just for ME.
I received a WARNING from AOL. I had not affirmed the "oath" from AOL/YAYOO. A FINAL WARNING. Eighteen years as a customer. Management at AOL must be run by thirteen year olds, no twelve year olds. People, think who your real customers are. Those that stick with you for decades are the ones that make your customer base. FINAL WARNING, what's with that. I hate to say this but management must be regressing in their race to survive. Please be assured each suggestion you send to us is carefully read and evaluated by a member of our staff. We take your concerns very seriously and answer your questions and comments with the most up-to-date information available to us.
That email was not sent from AOL.
We have an article that will explain those emails, how to spot spam, phishing, and vishing, along with who to report them to.

This has not been fixed! Holding the SHIFT key and checking the box in front of the first and laow to delete unread and old emails in bulk?
This has not been fixed! I cannot delete emails in bulk by holding down the SHIFT key and checking the box in front of the first and last emails. When I do, only the first and last emails are deleted, not the 30 between them.
You can delete all emails from a folder by checking the box next to “From”. If you want to delete bulks of emails, check box in front of the first email then hold the SHIFT key and check the box in front of the last email. This will select all the emails in between.

Make it easy to use on 3rd party apps
Make AOL email easy to use with full-featured apps such as Outlook or G-mail. the AOL app on my Google phone is not adequate for much more than a slow read, forget about archiving and storying offline. Yet you have a really cumbersome system for accessing email via Outlook or Apple Mail. I still have not yet figured it out as I don't like to spend that much time setting up my computer. I just want to add the account to Outlook (or whatever), put in the email password, and go. What is this BS about needing a different PW…
Please check the Incoming mail server settings in your email application, and make sure they match the IMAP/POP settings in the section titled “AOL Mail POP and IMAP settings” from the following help article: https://help.aol.com/articles/how-do-i-use-other-email-applications-to-send-and-receive-my-aol-mail
The incoming and outgoing mail servers require SSL enabled for all ports, and also the username field in the account setup, needs to contain your full email address, including @aol.com at the end.
In case your server settings are correct, open the link below (and sign in if necessary), and make sure the option “Allow apps that use less secure sign-in” is turned ON.
https://login.aol.com/account/security
After this turning ON this option, check if your mail application is able to connect. If the problem persists, verify if the “Two-step verification” option on the Account Security page (the URL above) is turned ON or OFF.
In case this feature is turned ON, you…

Your SPAM filter continually blocks valid and important e-mail. Since I use POP/IMAP, this fact was hidden from me.
You MUST provide a way to disable all SPAM filtering. I also recently had to subscribe to Earthlink e-mail because you would not allow me to send my club newsletter to more than 100 people. AOL mail is the worst implementation of e-mail that I have ever experienced (since the beginning).
Due to recent adjustments to the AOL Mail platform, the Spam Settings customization, are no longer available for all accounts. We apologize for the inconvenience. In order to block a specific sender, go to Options – Mail Settings – Spam Settings and add the email addresses in the box below “Block Mail from Addresses I Specify”, then click Save Settings at the bottom, and in case you receive unwanted emails in the Inbox, mark them as Spam.
Concerning the issue with sending bulk emails, unfortunately, this is no longer offered in the current version of AOL Mail. If you’ve received a notification that a limit of the number of sent emails was reached or you’ve sent to too many contacts, you’ll need to wait before you can send more emails.
Because of our antispam policies, we do not disclose the specific limits on the number of emails you can send…

Would prefer Weather for my home page rather than this "news" stuff. How can I do that?
Would prefer Weather for my home page rather than this "news" stuff. How can I do that
You can change the source of content on the homepage. Click News on AOL below LATEST HEADLINES. A drop-down will appear with multiple new sources, click on the one you would like to view and the LATEST HEADLINES will automatically refresh. This can be applied for all 5 news options in that row (i.e. Entertainment, Lifestyle, Sports, Finance, Latest).

how do i empty my trash? It is always grayed out.
how do i empty my trash? It is always grayed out.
If you right click on the Trash folder, the option will always be gray, since this action deletes the folder. The Trash folder is a default folder and it cannot be deleted. To empty contents from the Trash folder, please click on it to open it then select the emails and click Delete from the header.

Delete Search results easier
Currently I select inbox, then do a search by say, from/to, type in the name and get the results. I then check all to delete and when the screen refreshes I then see that they are now in the trash folder so I have to delete them again, doing this over and over is redundantly dumb. I should be able to delete from the folder I searched, and then go to the trash folder and bulk delete if I wish to. Or put an option somewhere to search all folders or current folder.
The mail you delete from the Inbox or other mail folders will go to the Trash folder. In case an email is deleted by mistake, it can be retrieved from the Trash folder for up to 7 days, after which it will be automatically deleted.

Several closely related issues re control of junk mail, but not identical. Please kill a bogus AOLreminder for dental work
Kill any junk mail from reappearing after two or three messages. I receive daily AOL reminders about dental work proposed by a dentist whose services I no longer use.
The best way to resolve this is to mark the emails as “Not Spam”, that way you can train the spam filter to better identify important emails in the future. Also if you use a mobile device or email client to access your mail over IMAP, please check the Spam filters in that application, to make sure it’s not marking important emails as spam.
In order to disable the reminder, open your AOL Calendar, locate the event and click on it, then select Edit. Next Click on the drop-down arrow next to the reminder section, and select “No reminder” from the drop-down.

Lost ability to turn OFF your incredibly poor spam filter
HEY. STOP merging my post with others . . . particularly ones where the administrative responses are of no help or don't address the issue. The post you last put this in contained an answer telling users how to teach the filter what is or isn't spam. Regardless of what I do, it continues to capture my personal mail. I get mail from a variety of sources . . . as do most people . . . and could never teach it enough to prevent mail I might receive in the future from going into your spam folder. These cookie-cutter…

Give option to not see reminder for 'backup email or phone' every time log in
Please stop asking me to verify backup email and phone before I access my account. Give an option to opt out of this pop up message. This information should be part of profile and the responsibility of account owner to keep up to date. My information usually stays for years without needing updated. The information could also have a way, if people want, a reminder for 30 days, 60 days, 120 days, etc. - then a popup could appear for them.
AOL is just doing its best to protect your online safety. It’s extremely important to have updated information should you ever need to change your account settings, reset your password or contact AOL customer support.

address book
I have maintained an AOL account for MANY years because of the way the address book used to work. I have a couple large groups of email address (for example, one for the 100 houses in my neighborhood for sending out neighborhood watch emails), and I don't want all of those email addresses to also appear separately in my address book. It's what set AOL apart. Now I have all those email addresses in my contacts list that I don't want. So when I scroll through my contacts to find the group name to make edits, it takes forever to…
This is caused by the auto-add contacts feature. If the groups contain email addresses that are not in your Address Book (individual contacts) they will be automatically added, after sending an email to the group. Also removing the individual contact from the Address Book will also delete it from the group.
In order to avoid auto-adding contacts to the address book, please follow these steps to disable the auto-add feature:
1. Go to Options and select Mail Settings.
2. Select the Compose tab on the left.
3. Uncheck “Automatically add email addresses to Contacts”.
4. Click Save Settings at the bottom. -
