How about this, we all start to cancel our business with AOL until they rollback this ******* decision. They have taken advise from some clown or competitor to ruin a decent business. a 20 yr customer about to cancel.

These FAKE EMAILS which AOL has begun inserting as "new email" inside our email InBox should be brought to the attention of the Federal Trade Commission.
This scheme of (1) inserting advertisements which are MISLEADINGLY designed to look like personal email and (2) completely PREVENTING PAID AOL users from BLOCKING these email advertisements is unequivocally an UNFAIR AND DECEPTIVE TRADE PRACTICE and subject to enforcement action by the Federal Trade Commission.
Since AOL is doing this to hundreds of thousands of AOL users, Class Action attorneys will be able to make a lot of money through class action lawsuits over this outrageous advertising practice.
Also, the FTC does NOT allow companies to profit from illegal advertising practices: the FTC will require AOL to DISGORGE all the of income they have received from advertisers.
I found another webpage where AOL says that people can pay $5 PER MONTH to have all ads removed from their "AOL Experience"
This is beyond belief: that AOL actually expects MEMBERS who are already paying at least $15 PER MONTH for AOL service to PAY another $5 per month to have an "Ad-Free" experience.
ADDITIONALLY: the fact that AOL has REMOVED a user's ability to BLOCK SPAM IN GENERAL, and has implemented this scheme of telling users that they now must deal with each SPAM email INDIVIDUALLY also violates the federal limits on COMMERCIAL SPEECH for those AOL users who are PAID members.
I am simply making the distinction regarding PAID AOL members because AOL has a different set of duties and obligations to those USERS who are PAYING A MONTHLY FEE to use the AOL mail service.
These are the Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices which need to be brought to the attention of the Federal Trade Commission:
(1) AOL is inserting FAKE EMAILS into users' InBoxes and users have NO ability to block or stop these FAKE EMAILS
(2) For PAID AOL users, this practice is not in compliance with federal restraints on Commercial Speech: quoting from an AOL Product person on this forum: "Due to recent adjustments to the AOL Mail platform, the Spam Settings customization, are no longer available for all accounts."

stop all the filthy garbage adds. in the settings i cannot even control the spam and filthy garbage as i was able to do before. what has happened to the clean emails??
Please let me know how i can stop every filth.
incredibly AOL IT team was even unwilling to delete the extra account that was pushed into my AOL email account. i know the person works for Verizon and is seeking to harm me and push his filth and garbage to me and most likely telling lies about me when he doesn't even know but my face. and hence, AOL IT team would not delete the account for i can say with certainty that they can delete the AOM at the back end but they are unwilling!
how can i get clean emails via AOL?? do i need to change my email for another provider who has options to stop all the filth and garbage in adds or emails??
have a good day!

I have been a PAID AOL member for over 20 years. Now ads are appearing INSIDE my InBox & FALSELY & DECEPTIVELY designed to APPEAR to be a personal email message for me. This is unethical & an UNFAIR and DECEPTIVE TRADE PRACTICE. If AOL does not CEASE this unfair & deceptive trade practice IMMEDIATELY, this unethical practice will be reported to the Federal Trade Commission with a request that the FTC order AOL to cease & desist this outrageous conduct.
This new advertising practice is also a DIRECT INTERFERENCE with my First Amendment rights to structure my personal InBox AS I CHOOSE and to control who does & who DOES NOT send me email messages.
I have the Constitutional right to BLOCK any email I do not wish to receive, but the way these FAKE EMAIL Advertisements are set up, there is no possible way for me to BLOCK these ads which MISLEADINGLY appear in my email as personal email for me.
AOL should have talked to their attorneys before implementing this grossly intrusive unethical and illegal advertising scheme.
AOL needs to find out from their attorneys that there are in fact specific limits on their COMMERCIAL SPEECH under the First Amendment, and one of those LIMITS is that AOL cannot DECEIVE and DEFRAUD their paying AOL members by inserting FAKE EMAILS into personal InBoxes.
These "email" ads which are unethically and deceptively designed to misleadingly appear to be personal emails are illegal under federal laws.
They failed to run this scheme by their attorneys before implementing it.
If AOL does not immediately cease these INSIDE the users' INBOX email advertisements, a class action lawsuit for UNFAIR and DECEPTIVE TRADE PRACTICES and BREACH of users First Amendment rights can be pursued.
I do not like all the ads which appear ABOVE my email in that band at the top of my Inbox, but while those advertisements are highly annoying and guarantee that I will never purchase one of those advertised products, these deceptive INSIDE my INBOX email advertisements which directly interfere with my email, and which I am completely PREVENTED from being able to block, are violations of federal law.
I don't mind the ads to the right side of the screen as long as they do not SLOW DOWN loading of my InBox.
I understand needed ads to keep AOL a free service - but STOP THE MOVING ADS! They clog up the internet, slow down AOL and are very distracting! And take away the ad in the first line of my emails, please!
I don't mind the ads to the right side of the screen, BUT I don't like your ad in the first line of my emails. Stop or I shall be an ex aol member
AOL has always been a bunch of greedy c***suckers but this new sh*t of putting an un-removable ad at the top of my in-box is BS. I pay for AOL. Get rid of the **** or I also will be ex-AOL. I'm not paying to have this sh*t foisted on me on a daily basis.
REPEAT AND SUPPORT: The comments are pretty self explanatory. Please remove ads from the first line of our E-Mail lists. We have had way too much advertising jammed down our throats.
I couldn't agree more - the ad appearing at the head of every email list is not only annoying, it shows complete disregard for an invididual's use of AOL. I have been considering leaving AOl for some time, the only reason for staying is that's its an 'upheaval' changing everything. AOL must have made a lot of money over the years - there's no need for it to be driven by profits any more! Whatever happened to loyalty? are you becoming a bank?!! (also a 20 year customer +).

Unable to to put spam in the spam folder anymore. So now you are going to "unsubscribe" my email address from a spammer? All AOL is doing is confirming that my email address is real. Who started this ****??? AOL must be getting paid for this by the spammer. Everyday there is more and more spam in my folder. Not to mention the addresses are fake so when they try to unsubscribe me from something I never subscribed to I'm getting bounceback emails. The only reason I still have AOL is because I've had my email address for 20 years and to switch to another provider would be overwhelming!
Sic and tired of not being able to go to my aol email address so often. Considering seriously changing my email provider.
Ads are driving me crazy, covered my view, don't use them never did.

Furthermore, I cannot UNSUBSCRIBE from Spam because AOL will not allow it until I okay it to go to my inbox. WHAT???? AOL is getting worse with this - where is your support team? Who's brilliant idea was it to disallow you to unsubscribe from your spam folder - are you all getting paid by those entities???

I understand the need for ads. But in this age of targeted messaging, could you figure out that I am MALE and don't need to get rid of crow's feet, sagging underarms or any other so-called female concerns.

Yes! Please allow me to click on the links in a SPAM email to ask to be unsubscribed! It appears to be counter productive if I have to move them to INBOX to ask to be unsubscribed. I then get the emails in my INBOX.
Dewalt Tool add appearing completely authentic as front line on home page, is a company in Beijing, China. Is this legitimate? Only a few months old with no accessible track record. What's up? Can you be trusted in choosing SAFE advertisers?
Stop these dumb stupid ADS that get in my face which I COMPLETELY IGNORE. TAKE AOC GD FACE OUT OF MY VIEW. SHE IS AN ABSOLUTE ******** SOCIALISTS THAT IS TIED TO THE SOCIALISTIC COMMUNISTIC PARTY. GET RID OF HER.
