My aol mail stopped working in a 3rd party consolidation app, citing settings - gmail, hotmail, outlooketc still work
Aol stopped working in my blackberry hub + services - "can't authenticate, check settings (in AOL) and try again" All my other emails work, the app doesn't integrate either. Please put specific directions in help for settings to allow my aol mail to work again. The App for android is untenable - no flexibility at all for intra-device organization, cumbersome GUI.

AOL mail on my iPhone quit working. No new email for 3 days. Can't send email, get "Cannot Send Mail. The user name or password for 'SMTP:<my email>@smtp.aol.com' is incorrect. Removed and reinserted correct user name and password, but still doesn't work on iPhone. Email on computers still works just fine.
Now what do I try?
I pay for AOL yet have to look at dozens of ads to see my email. Why would you do this? I'll switch to the free version and find another email provider. My favorite email readers have worked for years and you disabled them so I will see nothing but advertisements.

My AOL suddenly stopped working with Outlook and my android phone, too. How can this be fixed?

Same problem here. AOL mail quit working using Outlook in Windows 10 as well as on my iPad. Still works on my iPhone, though. Some of the steps to resolve that have been posted are confusing to me. (I'm no geek). Can anyone offer a step-by-step to resolve (i.e. do i begin in Windows, AOL, or somewhere else?)

Been rejected in Out look 2016, windows 10 live mail, and on android tablets when attempt to sign in to these devises? Name ID and Password rejected even when they are both the same when signing into AOL Mail. Tried both POP and IMAP with same results?
Is there a way to change Netscape.net to AOL.com with out starting from scratch?

I had same problem with Outlook 2013 no longer working for my default email account. The other three, also AOL accounts, still worked just fine. Brooke Bauer's procedure worked modified for Outlook. You generate a new password for third party sites (Outlook Desktop for me) and use that password instead of your normal account password anywhere password is required in setup. I had completely deleted my account in Outlook and tried to add it again but it would not add the account with my regular password only with this new "generated" password.

Okay. Had it fixed. Brooke Bauer's procedure did it.
Options > Account Info > Account Security > Manage app passwords > Select your app > Other app > Type name of app (I used "Gmail" and "Windows Mail") > Generate
Use the given code as password.
Weird. What then is our password for?

Mine stopped all of a sudden as well. Still working on iPhone and Mac Mail apps where they use actual AOL website to login the account. For Windows Mail app and Android's Gmail app, it just keeps saying "wrong password" or "allow this app to sync your mail" or something.
I think this has happened before but it resolved itself in a couple of days. This has been going on for weeks now.

My Windows 10 Mail stopped picking up from AOL. I get a message saying we couldn't access this account. The same has happened with my iPad.

The problem solved! Thanks to Brooke Bauer.
Why Aol doesn't give us instructions what to do?

Okay, I think I figured it out. When add an account. First, login to your aol, go to Options, Account Info, Security (login again), Go down to Manage app logins. Pause here
For BB hub, go to manage accounts, add account, enter your aol username, select manual to continue, DO NOT ENTER your password. Type imap.aol.com on the server line, make sure the port is 993 Pause here
Go back to where you paused in your aol security at the manage app logins. Select this, the app a name - e.g. BB Hub +, continue. It will give you a one time use password. The format was unusual and contained spaces.
Go back to the BB Hub and enter this password INCLUDING the spaces (ignore the warning about spaces), select next, you will get the outgoing message page, this was all okay, next, it will have you decide settings and continue through. WALA. It will take a bit of time but then just do your regular stuff with BBHub for views etc.

Same here. I use the BlackBerry Hub+ Services and get this-
The server responded: -ERR [SYS/TEMP] Server error - Please try again later.
