I called AOL to cancel a suspect subscription that I came across when my father passed away while going through his finances. He apparently had been paying $7.99 per month for 24 YEARS for services he NEVER RECEIVED. They were AOL support and security. In his AOL profile is showed 0% activated. The man I spoke with was EXTREMLY RUDE AND ARGUMENATIVE. I questioned why my father had been paying for a service he never received or utilized and i stated he had been taken advantage of, the AOL representative AGREED! I requested a refund of some sort and he laughed. I asked for the paperwork where my father had signed agreeing to pay $7.99 a month for over 20 years and he laughed yet again and said that was not possible. I said we never received a bill, he said it was sent to the email address, which it is not. The money was taken autopay off a credit card and I requested the date when he authorized that and he said, "look it up yourself". I stated that after paying over $2,000 for services that my father did not receive I believe that was his job to find that information for me. He again stated I needed to go into the account and find the information myself. So the so called support that was paid for for 24 years that was never used still was not able to be utilized! This was the rudest, most unprofessional customer service rep I have ever encountered. AOL should be ashamed to employ such horrid people. I asked to speak to his manager and HE HUNG UP ON ME! Watch out folks, AOL is in the business of taking advantage of elderly people! They tell them that they have to pay for things that they do not need and then even when it is paid for you still can not receive any type of help or services. This makes me sick. Another issue with the customer service reps are that they do not speak very good English. I am calling from the United States and would like to speak to someone in the United States that speaks fluent ENGLISH. My customer service experience with AOL has been the most horrible experience than with any other company I have encountered!! My elderly father was taken for over $2,300 by this company and I got the worst customer service experience of my life! AOL should not even be a company anymore!
