can't get mail on my computer it says needs permission to sync

Hi there. As we all know, technology is continuing to change and improve. While the connection you have been using may still work and was once the best, a better, more secure option is available. Basic auth is an older authentication method. A more secure authentication method called OAuth2 is now available. To ensure your account remains secure, we are requiring all applications to support OAuth2.
We recommend using the AOL Mail website and AOL email app so we can ensure you’re always using the most secure sign-in technology when accessing your email.
If you prefer to continue accessing your AOL email on your current third-party email application, including the default email application on your mobile phone, please see details below on how to ensure it’s syncing with the latest secure sign-in method: https://help.aol.com/articles/allow-apps-that-use-less-secure-sign-in
Thank you!

I have been unable to access AOL via Microsoft Outlook 2016 and 2019 using IMAP on multiple PCs since 4 p.m. EDT on April 21, 2021. All suggested remedies have been tried, and all have failed. The error code returned is consistently 0x800CCC0E - "contact your server administrator", "cannot synchronize subscribed folders for AOL". If AOL is unwilling or unable to fix this problem, please at least restore the Email Forwarding function to allow emails to be accessed by Outlook through other email accounts. Thank you.
A Previous Request for Reference:
This is my 4th or 5th attempt to draw attention to the fact that MS Outlook 2016 and 2019 no longer function on multiple computers to access AOL emails. AOL Support responses have not been helpful, and have not resolved the problem. Please do not send me another email that "Your idea has been merged" into another useless response that does not alleviate the issue, nor provides useful advice. All indications point to an AOL server issue, or something that needs to be addressed by a Systems Administrator. Error code returned is consistently 0x800CCC0E - "contact your server administrator", "cannot synchronize subscribed folders for AOL".A Previous Request for Reference:
My Outlook (both 2016 and 2019) stopped being able to access AOL emails on multiple PCs at exactly the same time on April 21, 2021 at around 4 p.m. EDT. Installing and reinstalling AOL in Outlook does not work. Changing port settings didn't work. I need to use Outlook to access my AOL emails. I'm exceptionally tech savy troubleshooting IMAP email problems, but this appears to be an AOL server problem. Error code returned is consistently 0x800CCC0E - "contact your server administrator", "cannot synchronize subscribed folders for AOL". Please fix the AOL serve issue. It's now May 13, 2021. -

Tom Zito's comment is spot on. No amount of user troubleshooting fixes the problem, even over 33 days of trying all the known means of troubleshooting this issue. All roads point to needing an AOL systems administrator to look at this.

Same problem. Evidently IMAP/POP access is broken for some but not all aol email addresses. There is no mechanism for opening a ticket or getting resolution. All roads lead to generic basic troubleshooting steps which don't solve the problem.

Same problem and no solution available. I have one that works and one that doesn't. Also notice the automatic forwarding option has been removed so if we change to a different provider we can't forward it.

I join the crowd in that attempts to edit or make suggested changes do not happen. What a pathetic mess. I always loved AOL for its ease and convenience. My opinion is rapidly tanking!!

Same issue, very frustrating. I can no longer access AOL except in through a browser. Keep getting out of date message and it won't accept password. The password only works in aol.com in browser. Very inconvenient and will stop using AOL for anything if it can't be fixed.

It's weird for one of my email accounts stopped working about 3 months ago and now the second ceased to function in outloook. Any explanation of fix?

Over the past few months my three AOL accounts are giving me error messages that "this account cannot be accessed, and that I may need to reset my password (did multiple times) or provide permission for the app to sync to the email box. Another message is my email settings are out of date." The problem is, no recourse is provided to correct this issue, which persists. Any help I try to get through AOL can only be provided for a cost instead of supporting customer's that do not have paid AOL accounts. I've removed all of the email accounts, reloaded, and changed the passwords multiple times, though these options have not worked. This problem does not allow me to review or respond to emails from my general email icon on my home computer or on my cell phone. I can see emails on my phone, but can't respond to them. The only way around this is I have to sign directly into AOL to gain full access to my emails. Any assistance in correcting this issue would be greatly appreciated.
