password generator
I don't know if you guys are still experiencing problems with the password generator, but i was able to solve mine. I still can't generate a password on my PC, but i was able to generate a password on my iPhone. I copied this password, emailed it to myself, and then pasted it into the MS Outlook when prompted. I can now send/receive AOL/Verizon email in MS Outlook.

As far as i can see, there hasn't been another official Aol response to the issue since 1st June which speaks volumes! Something like this should have weekly updates, minimum. There is something glaringly obvious going on which i can't grasp u/f ! Good luck over there with the filing.

Update. I filed an official report with the FTC. Since this is technically a internet service provider issue, it recommended to file a complaint with the FCC which I also filed.

Thanks Rimma for your suggestion. I'm going to file a complaint with the FTC as well. All others should too. I should note that I first experienced this issue back in mid-September. Wasted over an hour on the phone and all they cared to do was sell me the plan. Yet they had no idea what I was talking about regarding the issue. No care or concern. Just tried it again. "This feature is not available right now!" What a joke.

In my complaint to FTC I alleged that:
1. AOL knowing that the integration issue is AOL's issue, not customers', attempted to induced me into buying their "premium customer support" before even began the conversation;
2. that AOL intentionally remove the integration feature in order to induce customers into buying their applications for $39.95/m or $4.95/m.
Such actions constitute fraudulent business practices.
I am sure, i was not singled out by AOL. If you had similar experience, please, complain to FTC. -

This is ridiculous. It has been an issue for over a month now. I tried contacting live support and they will not even discuss the issue unless you sign up and pay for the service. So, I believe that is why it (password generator) now does not work. It is a ploy to force people to sign up and pay for technical support. Illegal business practices. All need to report.

I just called AOL Support and they told me that AOL is aware of the "generate app password" issue and is working to correct it. They said that will still be the way to handle passwords. Hopefully that is correct information and they will get it fixed soon.

You don't suddenly take away a function that users were forced into without having a fix. WOW horrible technical and customer support. I agree with complaint to FTC.

Just tried on my iPhone same error message not available

In my opinion AOL removed integration with other applications with one and only one goal to sell its own product. It is a pure extortion from Verizon customers and AOL should be held liable.
I just filed a complaint with FTC. If FTC receives enough complaints about this issue, it will investigate AOL.
Please, contact FTC and complaint about AOL's deliberate actions:

As a user of AOL email for over 20 years, it pains me to be stuck in this situation. I have an app password set up for Thunderbird on desktop that still works, but I cannot create a new one for my new phone. I am stuck logging into my email via my phone's web browser which sucks. This is an integral part of email services and needs to be fixed ASAP.

Why can't AOL simply give us the solution to this "Generate Application Password" problem? Incredibly frustrating and is affecting my work. If you call they want you to sign up for a service.....just to get a password!

I have been struggling with the same issue for about 5 days but managed to generate a password today. I didn't do anything different from the 20+ previous attempts, it just worked this time. I would recommend to keep trying for those still with issues.

This service has become worthless. After more than 25 years, it's obvious that AOL's owner, Apollo Global Management doesn't care. No wonder private equity has gotten such a bad reputation. PLEASE FIX THE PASSWORD GENERATOR FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL OF US DUMB YAHOO & AOL CUSTOMERS!

I was not able to generate a password for windows mail on my wife's new PC because her aol email stopped sending or receiving emails on 27th October. When I try to generate a password for her on windows mail, it says "sorry this is not available at this time". HOW CAN THIS BE?

Was able to generate a password this evening around midnight EDT (Nov 1/2, 2022). Have retrieved into Outlook, emails from the past few weeks.
Maybe redirecting my cable bill to an address that was fully functional may have hit them where it hurts?

nope just went through the hassle of logging into webmail on my phone, went to the generate a password page under account security, and result was exactly the same as on computer: sorry, this feature is not available at this time. nice idea for the workaround, but... it no longer works if it ever did. Really shocking that this "feature" renders their mail service virtually unusable for so many of us.

Their own website still says this is how to do it... but it doesn't work. I don't know how the initial poster generated a password on the iphone and transferred it for use in outlook, but I hope they share this workaround, many of us really need it!!!
