My aol mail stopped working in a 3rd party consolidation app, citing settings - gmail, hotmail, outlooketc still work
Aol stopped working in my blackberry hub + services - "can't authenticate, check settings (in AOL) and try again" All my other emails work, the app doesn't integrate either. Please put specific directions in help for settings to allow my aol mail to work again. The App for android is untenable - no flexibility at all for intra-device organization, cumbersome GUI.
Is there anywhere in settings to change how emails are deleted?? I have 50K+ emails to delete because I can't figure out an efficient way to delete them. Please fix!!!
My email suddenly stopped sending and receiving (minutes after it was working fine) a few days ago. I use the desktop version of Outlook with POP/SMTP settings. After days of trying to fix it, I realized that I needed to generate an app password in the Account Security section of my Verizon AOL email account, and then enter that password in the Outlook settings (File - Account Settings - Server Settings). I talked to an AOL customer support representative (which unfortunately is not 100% free - I needed to sign up for a paid monthly service with the first 30 days free and the option to cancel - which I will be doing). That representative informed me that AOL announced a change 3-4 months ago, but that they have been rolling out the change little by little so that not all customers are affected at the same time. Here are my recommendations:
PLEASE inform your affected customers several days in advance of the anticipated changes so that they have a heads-up that something will be changing with their account - and could affect any third party software that they are using. Send along information and help articles to help them troubleshoot the anticipated changes. And if you do something along these lines, be sure NOT to do it too close to the anticipated change (just hours before, or notifying them after the change)- because if people can't access their email, they won't be able to see it on the affected device.)
I did find one article that ultimately helped me to fix the issue:
However, part of this article is confusing and I believe that the wording needs to change. It says,
"If you use AOL two-step verification or an older email app, you may need to use an app specific password to access AOL Mail. Just remember, app passwords are only valid for the app they are created for and remain valid until you sign out or remove access to the app. At that time, a new password will need to be created."
Notice it says that the app passwords are only valid ... until you sign out. I read this to mean that I would need to enter another app password again and again if I was not signed into AOL mail. The AOL support representative said the meaning was really until you delete that email account from your device. The words "Sign in" and "Sign Out" are used extensively for simply signing in and logging out of apps (and for online shopping, etc.) Please clear up the wording on this article.
3) When I did call customer support, I asked the representative to pass along the feedback that I gave above. I was told that he was unable to do so because he is in support. This is unacceptable. Your technical support representatives should be able to submit concerns from customers so that they can be addressed.
4) When I realized that the support agent was not going to send my feedback to anyone, I asked him how I could send feedback - and reiterated that I needed to sign up for a paid subscription just to be able to talk to him. At first, since we were already looking at the article at https://help.aol.com/articles/allow-apps-that-use-less-secure-sign-in. he instructed me to look at the bottom of the page and that I could use the links that said, "Talk to Us", "Email Us", or "Chat with Us". All three of those links send me to https://help.aol.com/contact/ - which only gives phone number options -- which would send me to the same type of AOL support agent who I talked to, who said he was unable to pass along my concerns. After a bit more searching he found the "Feedback" link at the top right corner of the article, so I'm posting here. I also notice that this is in more of a message board format, so there is no way for someone to reply to me directly in the way that they could with an email.
I expect far more as a customer of Verizon/AOL mail – and even more so after I have just signed up for a subscription.

It's 4/19 and I have to get a message from trash from 4/4 and it's not there! you have to retain deleted messages for 30 days! it should be a setting.
Why have a "Block All Senders Except Contacts," if it DOESN'T WORK??? Even after checking the box I'm STILL getting bloody SPAM MAIL! Every SINGLE day, several times a day, I have to delete unwanted SPAM MAIL!!!!! AOL, do SOMETHING to make this STOP!!!!
Why doesnt AOL transfer 1,000 emails to my folder but only transfers 100 at a time?
Do NOT delete New Mail as soon as a message is read! This is very annoying and does not happen in gmail, which I prefer. Allow the user to hold the message in New Mail, delete the message or send it to Old Mail. Otherwise keep all New Mail messages until the USER moves them. I spend an hour a day searching for messages in Old Mail that I want to keep after I read them.
I am using https://mail.aol.com/webmail-std/en-us/basic (Basic/Accessible Version).
When viewing an email message,if I select More\View Message Source, then a new tab opens with https://mail.aol.com/webmail-std/en-us/basic in inbox view, not a tab with the message source.
If I switch to to Standard Version, View Message Source opens a new Window with the message source, not a new Tab.
Also, when I Save As from the new Window, the file name is always "rawplaintext"instead of a unique name such as MessageXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.txt which was available in Basic\Accessible Version.
The Recent Activity function within Settings does not allow the USER to see at the same time if there are more than one device logged into the email account. For instance, sometimes when I log off, the LOG OFF pop up prompt does not always appear. So I don't know if another unknow device is accessing my account. Recently Activity function should display all devices (phones, laptop) log onto the account at that moment. Thanks for listening.
Need to update an old, cancelled phone number. Cannot find Help category for updating settings. ?????????????
GET THAT NEW INBOX OFF OF MY ACCOUNT
I WANT THE OLD ONE DAMMIT
I have BLOCKED addresses, however I CONTINUE TO GET EMAIL from these blocked addresses! WHY? And the amount of spam on AOL is absolutely RIDICULOUS! If I block an address i should NOT get ANY EMAIL including SPAM from the blocked address.
It would be great to be able to increase FONT Size.
Cannot post comments on news articles. You do know that I am paying for this service, don't you?

Do not like the new pc email so will be looking to switch to a new email address
I am disappointed that you do not allow auto-forwarding of email. I have been a subscriber since 1989. I will spend the next month updating all of my accounts that used the aol email address to another service.
Instead of just unread emails... my inbox now shows every single email (thousands) until I click the dropdown box and hit "see unread".
The next time I sign in or refresh, those thousands of emails are back again. WTF?
Never had this problem before ... I just want AT ALL TIMES to see unread emails in my inbox.
AOL is getting horrible especially with all of the ads everywhere (that now look like emails) after almost 20years it's about time to move on...
