Interesting, Eliot… That if “it has always been this way,” then what was the point of your entire derogatory diatribe (and this one) against the Biden administration? Which, by the way, was full of inaccurate and misleading information! Shocking, I know! While it’s true... According to the Energy Information Administration (EIA)… That the max capacity of the Alaskan pipeline is 2.14 million barrels per day (b/d)… The pipeline actually transported an average of just 448,000 b/d of Alaskan oil in 2020… BEFORE BIDEN! That’s 4% less than in 2019; 75% less than the peak in 1988; and the lowest level since 1976! And, Alaskan oil production has declined in 28 of the last 32 years as the oil fields have matured. The drop was part of a larger overall decline in U.S. oil production. The only thing the Biden administration has done regarding Alaskan oil, is to impose a temporary moratorium on new leases in the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve. All previous leases in Alaska are still active and available for exploration and drilling! About the only thing I’ll agree with you on is the fact that the amount of oil released from the strategic reserves is not enough to make a dent in the price of fuels… However, a large responsibility for that also falls on the oil companies who… as you already acknowledged… are definitely profiting from the situation…! So, point fingers, place blame, and nasty name-call all you want... But at least get your facts and figures straight!
