I also use a POP client for my AOL mail. I had set my spam to not be filtered, previously. At some point, that option went away, which I received no warning for. Since then, messages deemed Spam have been kept in AOL's Spam folder, instead of being retrieved. I shudder to think of how many false-positive spam emails I missed that were were never retrieved due to them being in Spam instead of the Inbox.
My "solution" is to log into AOL's webmail frequently to check if there's anything in the Spam folder. This defeats the purpose of using a POP client to send and receive emails my preferred way.
Our family has been paying for AOL services since 1997 and this feels like quite the betrayal.
