Mac mail keeps randomly redownloading from server read and deleted mail from mac

Please delete and re-add your account in the Mac Mail app. The incoming and outgoing mail servers require SSL enabled for all ports, and also the username field in the account setup, needs to contain your full email address, including @verizon.net at the end.
In case your server settings are correct, open the link below (and sign in if necessary), and make sure the option “Allow apps that use less secure sign-in” is turned ON.
https://login.aol.com/account/security
After this turning ON this option, check if your mail application is able to connect. If the problem persists, verify if the “Two-step verification” option on the Account Security page (the URL above) is turned ON or OFF.
In case this feature is turned ON, you will have to create a unique application-specific password for each one of your email applications, by following the steps from the section titled “How do I set up 2-step verification?” from the following article: https://help.aol.com/articles/2-step-verification-stronger-than-your-password-alone
If you still have issues afterwards, contact one of our Mail Support team agents for further assistance at aolmailquestions@aol.com.

I have collected my AOL mail (2 accounts) through AppleMail for many years. Suddenly as of yesterday, it fails to work. Although my login works through a web browser, it doesn't work on my desktop iMac. If anyone has an idea how to fix this, I'd love to hear it.

Below are steps followed today when unsuccessfully attempting to enable 2-Step verification. App Passwords generated by AOL website did not work. Please check password generator to make sure it's working. Thanks.
---------------------
STEPS FOR ENABLING 2-STEP SECURITY
1. Step One - Log into AOL website from laptop to switch on 2-Step
2. Generate password for iPhone and iPad
3. App passwords did not work when attempting to log into iPhone and iPad did not work - I receive error message that I'm using wrong password. -

The new Apple OS Catalina (SUCKS) is sending all my email attachements to the OS download folder. I don't want that to happen. In the past, all my downloads could be directed where I wanted them to go. Usually, to my desk top. I can't find any way on the OS or AOL mail to fix this problem: HELP!

Your support team is reporting it is a KNOWN bug. They have not provided an ETA. The IMAP mail sync was working find up until you made changes to the system about 72-96 hours ago. Please escalate.

I had this working for more than 5 years. When my Twitter account was hacked, I changed my passwords including my AOL mail. I can access my mail through Chrome via the AOL site. But now Gmail can no longer get my AOL mail via POP. Gmail gets a "server timed out" when fetching AOL mail. Help!!
The alternative is for me to just kill my AOL account and not bother to use AOL which is unfortunate because I've been using AOL since the 1980's.

This puzzles me...I am now experiencing the second time within a few months of not being able to receive or send email from my MacBookPro. I get one message that says "unable to verify account name or password" and another that tells me "this account already exists" so I can't figure this out. I am able to use a browser to get email and sign in is easy, my phone email works, but not the laptop. This once was not a problem. I would like it returned to its easy to use functions. Months ago I called AOL and the representative tried selling me a product to fix this. I am sure it should be an easy, free fix. Any help out there would be appreciated.

I have called for help, of course now they want you to pay for support. I repeatedly cannot access my email. Even going to the AOL sign on blocks me. I'm really tired of resetting my password, and like now, still email isn't loading!
