can't get mail on my computer it says needs permission to sync

Hi there. As we all know, technology is continuing to change and improve. While the connection you have been using may still work and was once the best, a better, more secure option is available. Basic auth is an older authentication method. A more secure authentication method called OAuth2 is now available. To ensure your account remains secure, we are requiring all applications to support OAuth2.
We recommend using the AOL Mail website and AOL email app so we can ensure you’re always using the most secure sign-in technology when accessing your email.
If you prefer to continue accessing your AOL email on your current third-party email application, including the default email application on your mobile phone, please see details below on how to ensure it’s syncing with the latest secure sign-in method: https://help.aol.com/articles/allow-apps-that-use-less-secure-sign-in
Thank you!

I used to rely MS Outlook to check my inbox of aim.com .
Due to unknow reason my emails, of **@aim.com missed to update from 31/7/2021. That misled me to overlook my daily emails update.
I only find the lot of missed emails from browser access directly.
Please kindly resume the normal inbox update with MS Outlook.
Thanks and lind regards -

Your account security has become so onerous I have decided to cancel my subscription and will stop using AOL. Specifically, AOL goes offline on my Apple devices and I have to put in a new password. To do so, I have to log into aol, generate a code, half the time I end up changing my aol password instead of the password on my Apple device. I understand the need for security but when you have no customers AOL will be very secure.

when someone needs real help help them, don't charge them for something you implemented with out informing them of the change that stops their email from working on third party apps

Why are you stopping me from receiving my emails?
I don’t want a whole new set of passwords.
I’m adult enough to know about internet risks.
Please stop treating me like a child. You may be 18 but I’m 63, have some respect.
Angry U.K. AOL user.

I have found that it takes HOURS to get eMails posted to my PC AOL account. The emails are shown on my Smart phone, so I know they were sent...and I answer them on my smart phone when I CAN. What is the problems?

Checked my server/credentials in Outlook. Perfect. Email server for Verizon appears to be DOWN.
I can login via your portal just fine. Connect via Outlook, NO. Changed nothing on my end. Just stopped working.
Please fix ASAP.

I currently have 1530 msgs on your server. However, the download occurs in small segments periodically, only 5 or so msgs after I enter/received on my computer. Never had that problem when I had mail service with Verizon for many years . Working with you technical personnel has not solved that problem in 9 days.

Can AOL post specific instructions for fixing this. Error messages in gmail: "pop.aol.com doesn't support leaving messages on the server" ['leave messages on server' was NOT checked.] Also: There was a problem while connecting to pop.aol.com
Server returned error: "Connection timed out: There may be a problem with the settings you added. Please contact your other email provider to verify the correct server name and port." Something is wrong clearly. -

Please make it easy to find/reset the e-mail account password I need to access via Outlook. I do not need to pay even more money to avoid ads on a clunky web interface when, up until this evening, Outlook was better in every way. Trying to rebuild the connect with the password I have on record and...no joy. Easy, just change the password the server is expecting. But to what? That information is nowhere to be found! Do I have to pay $4.95 for your "free" help just to find this?

i was able to log on with the outlook on my pc using the app generated password. But I cannot do so with the outlook android on my phone. Since they are on different devices and the the generated password is one time use, I assume I have to generate another password for the phone. Is that correct?

Some of the solutions appear to require logging onto aol verizon account to generate a password. But how do you log onto the account when you cannot connect to aol verizon in the first place. I would love to solve this problem.

Kelvin Miller's comment helped to solve my problems for the time being:
Just figured it out. Had to go into the security settings in AOL and get a one time password generated, put that in for the password in Outlook and got the emails. I didn't have any issues with using Outlook for my AOL until recently, so this must be a new change for them.

My Outlook Express Classic Pro email program can no longer retrieve my emails from the AOL.com as of today & my verizon.net as of 7/13/2021. The PW & email address are still the same. Made no changes to either. I know you don't care but can you please fix the problem.

One of my verizon.net emails just quit on 7/24/21 and it is an important email account. I can get emails on all other verizon.net accounts, but one died completely. I did get in my main account a spam notice (phishing) saying my account will be deleted in 48 hours if I did not click on the link to https://aolseverconnect.weebly.com/ This is blocked due to my security settings. Unsafe site. It was from Aol. <**4@yahoo.com> I need my email to be restored, please.

I just went through all this...I have Outlook 365 and have four other accounts with other providers synced there. This AOL imap issue was sudden and stopped syncing all emails (stopped sync July 12), after troubleshooting for hours, in frustration I deleted it and re-installed AOL acc. I lost everything and it isn't sending any more emails now. I will try solutions next few days and then if I don't get results I'll dump AOL. I've been with them now for almost 20 years, was my first email address...sad

I figured out the problem last night. AOL changed the security settings, so you need to go to Options/Account Info/App Password
Then generate a password for the program you want to send/receive email and use that password for pop3 and smtp.It would be nice if this was added to the pages for setting up external programs to access AOL.

I am unable to send emails using thunderbird and the verizon.net settings for smtp. The password that I am entering is correct but it says login failed. Has something changed? This was working a few weeks ago.
