can't get mail on my computer it says needs permission to sync

Hi there. As we all know, technology is continuing to change and improve. While the connection you have been using may still work and was once the best, a better, more secure option is available. Basic auth is an older authentication method. A more secure authentication method called OAuth2 is now available. To ensure your account remains secure, we are requiring all applications to support OAuth2.
We recommend using the AOL Mail website and AOL email app so we can ensure you’re always using the most secure sign-in technology when accessing your email.
If you prefer to continue accessing your AOL email on your current third-party email application, including the default email application on your mobile phone, please see details below on how to ensure it’s syncing with the latest secure sign-in method: https://help.aol.com/articles/allow-apps-that-use-less-secure-sign-in
Thank you!

Me too, it simply stopped working. It's extremely annoying, I mean, I have this address for a long time, so please fix this at once! :-(
SMTP stopped working - The response from the remote server was:535 5.7.0 (#AUTH005) Too many bad auth attempts.
Come on, guys, we want to believe we can rely on your "service".

Looks like you can do only one tiresome thing. Send each mail separately to your gmail account.

I am a Verizon.com user. I also use Microsoft Outlook on my PC. I've just discovered that AOL Mail is not sending all Inbox mail to me. There appears to be NO pattern to the missing email. when I check AOL InBox the missing mail is there but has not been forwarded to my PC. What is happening? How can this be fixed?

This is not an idea. It's a complaint. I'm getting no access to my Spam folder when using IMAP to access my mailbox. It is not showing on my folder list, as if it is being blocked. Please correct this problem ASAP as it is irritating to log into web mail just to check my Spam folder for important emails that your 'permanent' spam filter may erroneously put there. Here's an idea for you. Allow users to disable your spam filter so they can use one that they choose. Forcing yours on us is pretty tyrannical, if you ask me.

I was using iOS and macOS mail for the longest time with AOL mail successfully for the past decade or more. With the recent changes to the service, retrieving mail through these clients is spotty at best, often producing errors even after removing and re-configuring my accounts.
I will not download a separate app to check mail that any other provider is able to do through a regular client.
Please restore or debug AOL mail's IMAP client side access.
