can't get mail on my computer it says needs permission to sync

Hi there. As we all know, technology is continuing to change and improve. While the connection you have been using may still work and was once the best, a better, more secure option is available. Basic auth is an older authentication method. A more secure authentication method called OAuth2 is now available. To ensure your account remains secure, we are requiring all applications to support OAuth2.
We recommend using the AOL Mail website and AOL email app so we can ensure you’re always using the most secure sign-in technology when accessing your email.
If you prefer to continue accessing your AOL email on your current third-party email application, including the default email application on your mobile phone, please see details below on how to ensure it’s syncing with the latest secure sign-in method: https://help.aol.com/articles/allow-apps-that-use-less-secure-sign-in
Thank you!

Same here. AOL no longer working with Outlook. What a pain! If this isn't fixed we will just stop using AOL.
EDIT: Just figured it out. Had to go into the security settings in AOL and get a one time password generated, put that in for the password in Outlook and got the emails. I didn't have any issues with using Outlook for my AOL until recently, so this must be a new change for them. If this is going to be required everytime going forward, I will be phasing out the AOL email and using something else.

Since May this year, my AOL emails have stopped coming through to my Android phone. Is there any reason for this and can anyone advise or help?

Does this look familiar?:
Task 'Synchronizing subscribed folders for AOL.' reported error (0x800CCC0E) : 'Outlook cannot synchronize subscribed folders for AOL. Error: Cannot connect to the server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).' -

All of the sudden my AOL mail app in my 2 Apple devices aren’t working, I changed my AOL password directly through the internet but the AOL mail App still doesn’t work when I enter the new password. What happened & why? And how can you fix it for me? I’ve been a paying customer since 1996…

Since 6/30/2021, gmail is unable to retrieve email using pop3. I have tried my password, changed my password and generated a unique app password for gmail. None of them work.

It seems more users are being affected by the Outlook 0x800CCC0E error issue, regardless of the IMAP settings, software version, computer, and operating system being used. It confirms what we've know all along that this is a server issue requiring a systems administrator to remedy the problem. This has been going on for almost 10 weeks and progressively gotten worse for more AOL users. Things just haven't been the same since AOL/Yahoo was sold by Verizon to Apollo (a private equity firm).

Outlook is not receiving e-mail from my AOL Account since 06/30. I'm retrieving a general server error during connection, but if I use online AOL Mail service, it works fine.

I cant access aol email I've had for years. All of a sudden it wants my password which is correct. The mystery is I can access aol from my cell phone, but not from my computer. very troubling. Spent an hour on the phone with aol help to no avail. Perhaps I should just go to gmail but I hate changing my email that I've had for so long. Now here's the rub. I couldn't post this comment unless I signed into aol. I used the same password that AOL is telling me is wrong, and I got in to post this comment. They are doing something weird, almost like they are trying to get rid of people. Maybe that's what they want. If it is, they are doing a great job of getting people upset enough to move on.

Yes, from what I gather this 0x800CCC0E error issue is increasingly a problem for AOL users using Outlook.

I received the outlook 2013 error 0x800ccc17 yesterday. My assumption was the imap server may have been down when my iphone could not connect either. Normally this problem clears after rebooting outlook or the pc (not this time). From the comments here it seems they should be well aware of the issue and it's getting worse.

I'm in the same situation and completely understand. It's very frustrating not to be able to use IMAP or POP to access emails via Outlook. It's been 9 weeks since I've been able to routinely check emails through Outlook. The AOL web interface just isn't a useful and efficient means to access emails.

I have never used office 365. A week or so ago my aol e-mail started being sent with "Office 365 **@verizon.net" I made no changes to my account and only send e-mail via the AOL site or AOL App. My e-mails are now being spam filtered due to this. how to I get back to just "**@verizon.net"?
