Please fix your POP3 servrs
since the last few days I have not been able to log in with Thunderbird!

Made changes to enable my Verizon account to continue using my client email programs. Since changing my Outlook POP3 to use an AOL app. password and my iPhone uninstall/reinstall per instructions, emails are not remaining in inbox on server if retrieved and read with iPhone. Is this because Outlook is still POP3 and iPhone now IMAP as a result of the reinstall of Verizon account? I thought IMAP was supposed to keep emails on server.
Prior to these changes the emails remained on the server in the inbox so they could be retrieved from either client. What's the fix?

12/16/2021 I have not been able to access verizon email through Thunderbird or Livemail since 12/14. Settings and passwords are correct. Please help. Thank you.
I can't access my verizon email through Thurderbird or Samsung email app on my phone since Dec. 11. For my phone, I followed the instruction on https://help.aol.com/articles/allow-apps-that-use-less-secure-sign-in#others which says
Access mail via Samsung Mail
Remove your AOL account and re-add it to the Samsung email app on your mobile device. When you re-add the account, look for the AOL logo to activate the secure sign-in method.
1. Open Android Settings.
2. Tap Accounts and backup | Accounts.
3. Remove existing email account then re-add.
4. Tap Add account | Email.
5. Tap the AOL logo to activate the secure sign-in method.
This resulted in losing all my verizon email on my phone and not being able to reinstall. There is no AOL logo as it says on the website. This forced me to download the AOL app on my phone which is riddled with ads--very annoying. For Thunderbird, I don't want to delete and reinstall my account, which will be pain to save all my previous email. I am seriously considering not using the verizon account anymore.

My Thunderbird stopped receiving/sending email, connecting with the AOL server. Why? All I ever get is this: [SYS/TEMP] Server error - Please try again later.
I don't think the server is making an error. I think AOL has done something to shut Thunderbird out. Even after I did that **** re-connection a few weeks ago and lost all my old emails.

I can access my AOL (Verizon) email via mail.AOL.com but, as of Dec 8, I cannot receive mail in Outlook. I get an error that says it cannot access the mail servers.

After receiving the security notification, I followed the directions for updating my Thunderbird account so I wouldn't lose the third party access. It was a real pain ********** because all my emails had to download, all the filters had to be set up again (this was before I found the old roaming file), and let's just say it was time consuming and inconvenient. Now starting on December 5th, I'm not receiving any mail through Thunderbird at all. It looks like I can send out mail--a test message to myself shows up in the online AOL mail, but something is wrong with the incoming. I hate having to figure this out myself--why isn't there more help with this?

My email Verizon.net stopped working yesterday, It forced me to change my password, I changed it log in and can only see old emails, nothing new? I called and they say I must now pay$$ to have tech assistance repair the problwem? I wanted to leave feedback at end of the call and the rep hung up the phone so I could not leave feedback?

Starting 10-28-2021 I am unable to access my Verizon.net email from my Mac mail app.
Reconfiguring email setting from IMAP to POP and back did not help. Restarting my Mac didn't help either. Mac help desk send me back to Verizon --> AOL
It does not work
I see a lot of comments from people with the same problem as I have about linking the AOL to my mail account (Outlook in my case) I don't see any answers. Are there any live people working at AOL?

The password you created for getting your mail works fine as long as you don't use a mail app. AOL's generated App passwords aren't a solution to anything. In fact they compromise security because nobody could remember them so you have to write them down and keep them sitting in plain sight so you can get your mail through your mail app. This requirement to use app passwords is an intentional action by AOL to discourage users from using apps instead of the AOL web interface. Meanwhile other companies (Yahoo) add actual security to users mail apps by using OAuth for authentication.

I have not been able to log in with any email clients except AOL by using my verizon email address. The address had been used for many years. I have changed both my verizon and AOL passwords, but logging in remains impossible.

I had a problem similar to this. I needed to generate an app specific password to fix it.

Have had this issue for quite awhile. Migrated from Verizon. Here's what I've found to fix the errors.
Has worked in both Outlook and Tbird.
Sign on to AOL e-mail account > Go to Options>Account Info>Account Security> Scroll down to App Password > Generate and manage app password. AOL will generate an app password. Use the app password as your password in Outlook and Thunderbird.
