Problems with Thunderbird, Outlook and other mail clients
I can see my mail on AOL.com/inbox, but what broke POP3 email fetching for verizon.net addresses? Please check on this and fix it if possible.

We want to make sure the email application you’re using meets the latest security standards, and that’s why your account won’t work with the current mail access protocol you are using.
Here are a few options to securely access your mail:
Option 1: We recommend that you access your mail using our free AOL app for iOS and Android or simply go to mail.aol.com to access AOL Mail on the web.
Option 2: Keep your current, non-AOL app, BUT follow a few steps to get it to sync with our secure sign-in method. The steps vary across different email applications, but in most cases, you will have to remove your AOL account from the app and then add it back again to update sign-in security. Use the links below to follow the specific steps for your current application:
Option 3: You can generate a one-time, unique app password that will allow you to sign in to your account using your non-AOL email application. Once created, this app password will continue to allow your app to securely sync your AOL email unless you sign out (or are signed out) from your app. You can find instructions on how to do this here.
Questions? Please visit our help page. And if you’ve already made the necessary changes for your account, we appreciate the quick action!

Excuse me,
I've CONFIRMED set up a third-party app password, POP(or IMAP) ,and SMTP configuration CORRECTLY (protocol domains, ports used, and SSL/TLS enabled are all exactly) with my account to login. However, it always returns the following errors while trying to login on Outlook Desktop client (Outlook 2019) at Windows 10:
--
Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes of this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.
--
Outlook is unable to connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact the server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).

P.S. the above settings are working fine on my Android and iPhone built-in mail Apps with IMAP/SMTP Protocol. -

I had to change my password in AOL, now that password is being rejected in Windows Live mail. I have removed the account and added it back multiple times to no avail. I can log in via the internet just fine and access on my phone works just fine with the new password. The only place that rejects the new password is Windows Live mail, which is my most important place to keep, organize and access emails. Every other platform is too cumbersome for email organization. I love Windows Live Mail. What the heck is wrong, that it won't access your server with my new password????

Unable to send mail via iOS Mail and Verizon.net. It was working for a while, then suddenly stopped working. I can receive mail fine on all devices, and can send mail fine on Mac, but not on iPhone or iPad. I changed nothing. I just can no longer send mail without going to web mail.

A few months ago, AOL started rejecting my login from Outlook very suddenly. Nothing has changed and I use the same credentials to login via the web. I hate that format and I want to use the email client that I paid for to keep my emails organized and stored offline. What is the issue here?

Recently got a smart phone and it can't get my emails despite asking for password, and getting it, (maybe it's not so smart after all), OR aol is just too old to understand; having a laptop AND a smart phone by the same person. Yes? NO... Then why can't my phone get my emails? Do I have to sign-up for a separate account? It would be nice if AOL joined the 21st century.

All my emails go out but not with my email address. They show up on others email as AOL Upgrade Service and a lot of my emails are being deleted because of this. They think it is SPAM mail. Please fix this. If I could change to another email service I would.

I'm having the same problem as everyone below. The POP3 stopped working mid January. Can no longer use email retrieval on my cell. Thanks a lot Verizon/AOL.

UGh, glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem. I haven't been able to connect for months and I didn't change anything. Everything is right according to the webpage but the servers do not respond and just say try again later.

I understand why Verizon/AOL stopped supporting POP3; IMAP allows the company to store and read ALL of your e-mails to better farm and *monetize* you . Even better, breaking the connection altogether forces you to pay to view their advertising--they get twice the money! Please return to supporting POP3. Then I can stop paying for my own ad-free, POP friendly, URL and service.

AOL Mail on Windows 10 is no longer syncing with IPhone IOS Mail. Deleted mail on IPhone is not updating in view of email account in Windows 10. The INBOX in Windows 10 is growing very rapidly and is getting unmanageable. This problem has occurred in the last week.

Once I find a way to get another email client I'm moving away from this AOL no help site! I can't download to my Android email app nor can I download email to my laptop Thunderbird account. They seem to want me to use the AOL app, which won't allow me to play videos within the app and make me use the Web AOL for email so that I have to get their advertisements. Poor service and very poor reactions to all these questions. They simply don't care!
