*AOL customers are bombed with spam leaking through any filters, this has nothing to do with malewarer
FIX THE PROBLEM
While most spam should be caught by our Spam filters, occasionally some can slip through. If that does happen it's very important to mark the email as Spam. It lets our system learn that messages from a specific place are not good and helps us make AOL Mail even better at recognizing future spam emails. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

spam file has been empty
for over a week, my spam file has been empty. Is it something I inadvertently did or something you did with the latest update?

What is the function of the Block List?
Does putting email addresses in the Block List keep email from being delivered to one's account?
I see email in the Spam Folder that is in my Block List. This page explains the action to do if email is in ones inbox folder,
but does not address Spam delivered to the Spam Folder.
https://help.aol.com/articles/aol-mail-spam-and-privacyDoes entries in the Block List include non-delivery to all folders?
The less entries in the SPAM Folder the easier to find valid email incorrectly delivered to the Spam folder.
The block feature is best used for people, not spam, since spammers can use spoofed accounts. Meaning what you see might not be the actual sender address. The more often you mark these emails as Spam, the more you train your personal mail filter to recognize them as unwanted. I'm sorry there is no quick fix for this issue!

How do I stop AOL filters???
People in my address book still get in my spam folder. Repeatedly I mark it as NOT SPAM and then it's in the spam next time. I'd rather just make up a rule that would take care of all my spam and not interfere with my good mail. Getting rid of the spam filters would do it.
Recently you may have noticed an increase in email going to the Spam folder for senders using Office 365 and other Microsoft products. We are in the process of addressing this issue and expect it to improve over the next several days. Please keep marking the mail in the Spam folder as “not spam” or “ham” and that will help to correct the issue. Thanks for your patience.

One click - Block all selected email addresses
Why does each individual email need to be selected to block it on the desktop app? And in the ridiculous web version, we need to view source, copy the email address, open settings, go to block, and paste each individual email address in the box. How outdated can an email program be??? I move spam emails that go to my inbox and other spam I filtered to a folder and then block each one. We also need a right click report as phishing button, and a report inappropriate email button. The more I reported as spam, the more spam I…
If you select multiple emails, you can block all the senders under the "More" option.

AOL should Automatically Empty SPAM folder after 5 days
Automatically empty spam folder.
When does AOL empty the SPAM folder. 10, 20, 30 days?Product Support (Product Support, AOL) responded Mar 24, 2022
to an idea from John Harding Mar 13, 2022
"Hi. The Spam and Trash folders are automatically emptied after a certain period of time, the oldest will be deleted first."I'm at 859 SPAM emails after 9 days (21 Oct through 30 Oct), I'm averaging 86 SPAM a day. I CANNOT HANDLE IT!
I was emptying the folder myself. why should the burden be on me to empty it?
Another 115 SPAMs on 31 Oct
Hi. Emails in the Spam folder are automatically deleted after 30 days. I'm sorry for the inconvenience this is causing you!

Entries at the end of the Block is not filtering.
I have gotten SPAM in the Spam Folder after entering the email address.
Re-viewing the Block List I see my entries are (still) last.
I suspect this may be the reason the SPAM got through.
To better understand the use of the Block List my question is -
What is the time frame for the entries in the Block List to be sequenced?Hi there. Emails that are caught by the spam filter (going to the Spam folder) are not affected by the filters set. As for the blocking, please keep in mind that most spam is being sent from spoofed email addresses, meaning what you're seeing as the sender might not be a real email address. This is why the best way to manage spam is to mark emails going to your Inbox, as Spam. The spam folder then automatically empties after 30 days.

emails that don't block
I have several times entered the return email address sales@topdrops.org in my "block" settings. Emails with that return address still get through to my spam file and I'm wondering if anyone knows why. None of the other "block" addresses get through. Thanks for anyone who answers.
I'm sorry you're experiencing this issue! Spammers are constantly evolving their practices and blocking their email addresses does not help, as they are mostly sending emails from spoofed addresses or they send the same content but from different email addresses, which makes it look like they are coming from the same email address. Marking them as Spam teaches your personal filter to recognize them as Spam.

Massive spam I cannot BLOCK
I have SETTINGS on getting email ONLY CONTACTS yet every day I get 100 + emails from a site(s) that has infinite disposable none repetitive FROM addresses. I detest those FILTERS which DO NOT FILTER. PLEASE MAKE THE ACTUAL FROM CONTACTS ONLY DO EXACTLY THAT.
If you’ve started to receive an endless flow of junk email, you may be the victim of spam bombing. This is a tactic used by bad actors and hackers to distract you from seeing emails that really are important to you. This can also be an indication that another login account has been compromised.

The (block) sender will not be notified. Is this true?
On page https://mail.aol.com/webmail-std/en-us/suite# for Block List - Block messages from specific senders, is the statement "The sender will not be notified". Is this true? There are a couple, if not the same, SPAM senders that use five (5) characters included in their domain name that gets changed after I enter the latest SPAM address. If they are not notified, how do they know they have to change the 5-character combination to get past being blocked?
Hi there. Senders will not be notified. Spammers are constantly evolving their practices and blocking their email addresses does not help, as they are mostly sending emails from spoofed addresses or they send the same content but from different email addresses, which makes it look like they are coming from the same email address. We do recommend the block feature for people, not spammers.
Marking them as Spam teaches your personal filter to recognize them as Spam. I'm sorry there is no quick fix for this issue!

Put a limit on spam emails in the spam folder
All my spam goes to my spam folder, does anyone know how many spam emails this folder will hold? I'm at 400 now? I figure once this spam folder is full, the spam emails will stop.
Hi. The Spam and Trash folders are automatically emptied after a certain period of time, the oldest will be deleted first.

Invalid E-mail Cannot be Blocked
I constantly get spam from this e-mail address: noreply@offers.com>
Why can't I put this in my block senders list? If they can send it, then I should be able to block it. Now, you are changing my post. At the end of the e-mail address above, there is .com>

By default, both the Trash and Spam folders empty automatically to keep your account tidy. You cannot change the Trash and Spam settings.
Trash deletion frequency – Trash is deleted after 7 days.
Spam deletion frequency – Spam is deleted after 30 days.
