  7. what are the spam rules?

Why won't AOL tell it's members what constitutes spam? I suddenly got locked out after sending a bunch of e-mails to groups of cousins. I called for help, was forced to sign up for tech support and was told by two AOL employees they are now allowed to tell me how many e-mails sent in what amount of time qualifies as spam nor would they tell me how long after being locked out would my account be reopened.
I had been previously told that after AOL took over from Verizon that I was no longer limited to 100 people per…

In order to better enforce anti-spam policies, AOL does not disclose the number of recipients or emails that can be sent at one time.

If you’ve received a notification that a limit has been met, you’ll need to wait a set amount of time before you can send more emails. Most sending limit notifications inform you of how long you’ll have to wait.

If you’re planning to regularly send bulk email, consider looking into alternate solution.

  8. Possible Spam from "Aol Mail"

I received an e-mal from "AOL Mail" stating that you would shut down on April 24th for upgrades and would need to click on a link or lose my access. Is this true or is it a scam?

  9. Way more spam now - why?

Up until about one week ago I got almost no real spam. I frequently found things I wanted to see in the spam folder, which was moderately annoying. Now I'm getting several actual garbage spam messages a day. You flag most of them, but they never got through at all in the past. What did you change? Please change it back.

  12. report malware

Do we have a way of reporting spam/malware to you (and then, hopefully, you do something about it)? For example, I've gotten two messages today, telling me that my email is going to be canclled or whatever, and these messages are apparently coming from other AOL accounts.

If a user is abusing our system to send mail, we’re definitely interested. Please mark these emails as spam, it will generate a report that goes to a team focused on such experiences can review and take the appropriate action. For security reasons, they’ll be limited in the information they can share back, however, we’re dedicated to ensuring our users don’t abuse our system, and the Community Action Team will act accordingly.

  15. Unsubscribing from spam mail.

No longer able to "unsubscribe" from spam in the spam folder. Have to mark as "not spam" so it goes into regular mail and "unsubscribe" from there and 1/2 the time that doesn't work. Then I have to mark again as "spam" Please fix.

    Hi there,

That’s correct, you never want to unsubscribe from spam when it is already in the spam folder. This can tend to confuse our internal filters and result in legitimate emails going into spam or spam emails going into the inbox.

This action can only be performed in the inbox. If email are going into spam and are spam I would suggest leaving them there to eventually be deleted.

  16. Improve AOL mail by adding a column to the inbox allowing users to block all future mail from the sender's domain IN ONE CLICK

This new column would be a single character wide - very similar to the Flag column or the Trash column:

With a single click, an AOL program can create a line item in the user's Sender Filter (block-mail list). That line item would include the sender's top- and second-level domain (e.g., @spammer.com - with an asterisk before and after the '@'). Users can do this now for themselves under Spam Settings. But AOL can easily automate this tedious work for their billions of users.

Also, this approach would make the new line item accessible to users (in their Spam…

  17. MOVE SPAM

I wish I could off the SPAM filter. But, until that is possible how can I move a SPAM message into my IN BOX? Currently, checking the box to the left of the header and then clicking "MOVE TO IN BOX" sends the message to who knows where but it is not in the IN BOX. Currently, checking the box to the left of the header and then clicking "NOT SPAM" sends the message to who knows where but it is not in the IN BOX.

  18. Improvement to SPAM Folder

When I first go into my AOL email, and find a SPAM entry, I put a check in front of it, and click the SPAM button at the top of the email window. A window pops up, and asks me if I want to unscubscribe from this email? I click Yes, but it does not go to my SPAM folder until I click on the SPAM button at the top of the email window, and say No to the same question. The email moves to my SPAM folder. If I find another SPAM, I put the check mark in front…

    Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out. If mail is going into the spam folder automatically it is an indication that the spam filters are working. We do recommend that mail in the spam folder is not accessed unless you know for sure it is a legitimate contact. By accessing mail in spam you run the risk of confusing our internal filters or worse compromising your account.

The unsubscribe option is only for mail you willing subscribed to such as a newsletter. You never want to unsubscribe from spam mail as it too may confuse our internal settings.

For any further questions or concerns please feel free to reach out at https://help.aol.com/.

  19. Don't give ADMIN'S access to personal information! One put out spam info on me and my family, including a child. Just threw it out on there!

One of your admin's sent out probably 5 or 6 spams on my family requesting they join these groups with each of my family members as a head of it. One even a child. WTH?? That is misuse of my personal data if I ever saw it. If you are out of CA, this could turn out very poorly for you if you continue to do such things. There are laws against this. I'll be in touch with my AG if I don't get a written response. I'm tired of this woman's harassment. Lose her or lose the large group…

Every member of Team AOL must abide by AOL’s privacy policy. Only authorized AOL employees are permitted access to your personal information and, even then, such access is limited by need. For example, if you call Member Services or the AOL Customer Support Team, the representative is allowed to access only the personal information that he or she specifically needs to address your concern. In addition, our partner companies are required to adhere to confidentiality agreements to ensure that your information remains safe and secure.

All AOL employees are required to acknowledge that they understand and will comply with this privacy policy. Employees who violate our privacy policies are subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.

We strongly encourage our content, commerce and advertising partners to post clearly their own privacy policies and to have privacy control systems in place to protect your personal information. Be sure to…

Your Product (ahem!) 'Support'(?!?) does not help one iota...as a reply which you gave as...."Due to recent adjustments to the AOL Mail platform, the Spam Settings customization, are no longer available for all accounts. We apologize for the inconvenience. In order to block a specific sender, go to Options – Mail Settings – Spam Settings and add the email addresses in the box below “Block Mail from Addresses I Specify”, then click Save Settings at the bottom, and in case you receive unwanted emails in the Inbox, mark them as Spam.".... After typing the email address in the ‘Block mail from addresses I specify’ box, press Enter on your keyboard or click on the + sign at the end of the box. After you are done adding all the email addresses you want to block, click on ‘Save Settings’ at the bottom of the page.
