7. Editorial Curation - Non-news

   Can you please explain what has happened to AOL’s editorial content and news curation this week?

   The leading stories now appear increasingly disconnected from what could reasonably be described as important or relevant news. Many are banal, misleadingly presented and heavily sensationalised, using phrases such as “devastating news” to entice readers into articles whose actual content bears little relation to the headline.

   One recent example was a headline about the death of someone connected with MasterChef. Concerned, I opened it, only to discover that the story apparently related to the Turkish edition of the programme. While any death is regrettable, presenting this as a major breaking story to a UK audience felt deliberately misleading and designed primarily to generate clicks.

   This is far from an isolated example. There now appears to be an extraordinary preoccupation with celebrity trivia, contrived outrage and stories that are neither particularly significant nor accurately represented by their headlines.

   Has AOL introduced a new algorithm, changed its content provider, or altered who is responsible for editorial oversight? Whatever has changed, the result feels less like curated news and more like indiscriminate clickbait.

   I have never relied upon AOL as my principal news source, but its news page previously offered a useful overview of current events. In its present form, it has become virtually unusable.

   I would appreciate a substantive explanation of what has changed and whether AOL intends to restore some degree of editorial judgement, accuracy and relevance.

   On your comments page where people can exchange ideas and thoughts you are very limited in what you allow or reject, I do believe you have AI monitoring this as words like dreadful bore are banned from an overall dialogue, if someone is being this then why can you not state this? 10. Ad for modern German Glasses is blocked by Virus checker

    Ad shown at bottom of the "inbox" is a nuisance anyway. The fault is compounded if, when you click on the ad, it turns out to be a scam or malware. You ought to be catching these things before they appear. AOL should be a technically safe environment.

    I've noticed a recurring pattern of stories specifically framed around "**** in India," presented in a way that singles out the country as a subject of ongoing coverage. Sexual violence is a serious issue everywhere, including here in the UK, yet I rarely see equivalent framing applied to domestic cases — stories aren't headlined or categorised as "**** in Britain" in the same recurring way.

    This inconsistency raises two concerns for me as a reader:

    1. Comparative crime statistics between countries are notoriously unreliable, given differences in legal definitions, reporting rates, and policing practices. Presenting India as uniquely associated with this issue, without the same framing applied elsewhere, risks misleading readers rather than informing them.

    2. If the goal is to raise awareness of sexual violence as a serious issue, that awareness should be applied consistently and globally — including coverage of cases and systemic issues within the UK itself.

    I'd ask that your editorial team review how this topic is framed, and consider applying consistent standards regardless of country, rather than repeatedly centering one nation in a way that can read as bias rather than balanced reporting.

18. Make it easier to contact somebody on AOL

    My son is locked out of AOL all the verifications don't work and he therefore can't access his emails. The Landline phone verification is too quite and speaking too fast. This wasting everybody's time and not very proffessional. His email is colecomms@aol.com and needs this very urgently. Your phone contact don't work as the numbers are unrecognisable. 19. I cannot set my location - change to software needed?

    I live in Woodhall Spa, England, UK. My location and weather are always shown as New York and the ;Edit' function will not let me change it. I can fill in my correct location but it reverts to New York as soon as I hit 'Enter'.
