Offer subscribers a choice of the type of news they are interested in: i.e. national, international, business, celebrity, local
I am completely turned off by the cheesy celebrity gossip that is featured on aol news. Today, Israel bombed Iran; however that major story was segwayed behind the feature story on blueberries!!, and another on a celebrity, and a third one on something equally as inane. Americans aren't THAT stupid or cheesy.
So two ideas: 1) allow subscribers a choice of what news they want to prioritize: international/national/business/cooking etc.

Nasty, deceptive "bait and switch" ads featuring an enticing photo for something like senior housing, SUV's, nutritional/antiaging supplements, etc. AOL subscribers are typically older and these ads deliberately exploit them. The business ethics of Yahoo/aol are of questionable legality.

AOL also has no shame about "bait and switch" ads of dubious legality. These feature beautiful photos of subjects like senior housing, SUV's, nutritional supplements, etc. However, the click leads to a nasty interface with nothing whatsoever like the enticing photos. More cheesiness authorized by Yahoo/AOL.
