How do you give permissions to Windows Mail
When using my laptop, every time I click a link to an email inbox I keep getting a warning: "We Couldn't access this account: AOL. You might need to update your password or give the account permission to sync to this device." The signature of the blank email says "Mail for Windows" I have updated/changed my password and I still get this warning message! I have tried so many times to find a way to give Aol permission to sync but to no avail. Can't u guys create a simple category in "Settings" called "Permissions" so this can be done without spending hours and getting nowhere?
There is an area within "Your Account" that says:
"Apps Connected To Your Account
You have authorized these apps, sites and devices to access your AOL Account
No data available"
BUT THERE IS NO WAY TO EDIT THIS INFORMATION! You can't click on it! I GIVE UP!
Hi there. If you're able to successfully access your account through the webmail at mail.aol.com or the AOL app, and you already tried removing/re-adding your account in this email client and the issue is still there, you might need to generate an app password to connect your account in this email client/app. This app specific password would be a different password that is different that your account's. More details, here: https://help.aol.com/articles/allow-apps-that-use-less-secure-sign-in
if you need additional help, please contact us on Twitter at @AOLSupportHelp or on Facebook at our AOL Customer Care page. If you do not have a social media account, we are available at help.aol.com.
