    After doing research on this topic I guess I was lucky until a month ago. It has been a month now that I've not been able to reach AOL email from 3rd party apps. It is extremely frustrating and more than inconvenient when you use 3rd party apps for efficiency and are left with only a web browser interface with limited functionality. I've been checking in at least weekly with tech support. The latest I've been told is that it is fixed but limited users allowed. All of this is telling me I'm not important and AOL is not taking 3rd party app support seriously. I'm off to find an alternative mail provider!
