Subject: AOL Mail iPad app 8.0.2 not synchronizing deleted emails
I am experiencing a serious synchronization problem with the AOL Mail app on my iPad after the recent AOL app updates.
My iPad is running the current version of the AOL app, 8.0.2.
I have two active AOL email addresses and tested the problem carefully.
Here is what happens:
- I send an email from one of my AOL addresses to the other.
- The email can take an unusually long time to appear in the inbox.
- If I delete the email from my iPhone, the email is correctly deleted from the AOL server.
- When I check AOL Mail through Safari/AOL.com, the email is gone.
- Apple Mail on my iPad also correctly shows that the email has been deleted.
- However, the AOL app on my iPad continues to show the email in the Inbox.
- Even more concerning, the same email can appear both in the Inbox and in the Trash folder in the AOL iPad app.
- I deleted and reinstalled the AOL app on the iPad. Immediately after reinstalling, the old stale email was gone and two new emails appeared correctly.
- However, when I subsequently deleted those two emails from my iPhone, they again remained in the iPad AOL app.
This demonstrates that the AOL server is correctly processing the changes and Apple Mail on the same iPad is correctly synchronizing. The problem appears to be specifically with synchronization within the AOL iPad app 8.0.2.
Please investigate the mailbox synchronization/cache handling in version 8.0.2, particularly the failure to remove messages from the Inbox after they have been deleted on another device.
This problem makes the AOL iPad app unreliable because the Inbox can display emails that have already been deleted from the AOL server.
