I was having the same problem trying to generate an AOL password on my PC. Tried over and over.
Then I tried it using the AOL app on my phone. Worked first time.

I am also not able to generate a password for Outlook. I just got a new computer and am unable to set up Outlook.
Please definitively post AOL's position on support for 3rd party app support. I use Outlook extensively and if AOL is no longer going to support 3rd party apps then please let us know.
I will have to find another provider if this is the position going forward.

Is it aol & yahoo's intention that only through a paid subscription others can get the app generated password? Now the bottom line rules all and the free access to the email service is limited to access only through the website and the AOL app? I suppose it's your last attempt to salvage this as a profit generating service.

AOL worked in my Outlook until about a week ago and now I can not use Outlook for my mail. I really dislike using AOL.com to read and send emails. Please fix this ASAP. If it cannot or won't be fixed then you have a lost a long time customer. I don't know what the problem is with AOL lately

I am trying to get Outlook to sync with my AOL mail account. I have been trying to do this since September 19, 2022. One issue is getting a one time password. That system only works intermittently. I got one on Monday, February 20. Today I called AOL Tech Support to help with the connection. He could not make it work. He offered that I sign up for Assist AOL for $19.99 a month. I did and he sent me to the higher level Tech Support. He said that the issue cannot be fixed because AOL will no longer support third party apps to sync with the email servers. So I wanted my $19.99 back since the AOL Assist could not (assist). That took five separate transfers to finally get to the Cancellation Department and a man who had the worst customer service attitude that I have met in dealing with AOL. I am very disappointed with AOL and its decision to no longer support third party apps for downloading emails. Working with AOL on line is like working in the stone age. I believe your help page still provides instructions on how to sych outlook to Aol. If you have no intent on allowing this option, then let the community know.

What has happened? This was fixed temporarily in December when I purchased a new desktop and was able to use the generate app password in setting up Outlook. Now in January, I have a new laptop, and the generator is not working again. I don't wish to walk away from AOL Mail, but you may not leave me any choice.

I still use Eudora, which works with Yahoo, Gmail and Outlook. Without the app PW AOL is useless.

It would seem that you have no intent to fix this problem -- I guess because you do not value customer service or care at all about your reputation. You all should wake up and realize that Outlook is VERY POPULAR. You are intentionally blocking folks from using AOL from within it. Why? It's clearly purposeful. Have you considered that most people do not want to individually log into each of their different email accounts (e.g., AOL, gmail, MS mail, etc? FYI, I am in the process of moving completely off your platform. Perhaps your company would benefit from hiring someone who knows what they are doing.
