That's "You need a big salary TO BUY a home" -- with "to" for the infinitive form of the verb. If you want to make it shorter, write "You need big money to buy a home..." The money can come from anywhere, not just a salary--which means monthly or yearly pay for work--but if your parents give it to you, it isn't a salary, and if you get paid by the hour, that's called "wages."
