Is there deception in AOL advertising and is it acceptable?
I saw a bold black headline “Grandmother attacked outside Falls Church store” and clicked on it before I saw it had “Ad” in light gray beneath. I live in Falls Church, and I hadn’t heard of this, so it was of interest.
When I read the article, nothing in it to include the picture, supported it as being Falls Church in Virginia. So this seemed deceptive and even not true, hence false information. When does something become false advertising, or misinformation, and is such advertising even acceptable in the US or at least under AOL policies? This post says it is customer feedback for AOL and that you take it seriously, so I’m posting this.
