mail features
I tried the new format you have for AOL mail. I switched back to the original because of the right side bar to the right of the screen kept opening every time I opened a new mail. I couldn't keep it to stay in the closed position. Plus it never showed anything. I gave this as my reason for switching back. I later remembered another feature I didn't like. With three children, sometimes I need to keep some emails open. In the original format, I am able to open those emails in a separate window. Which keeps me form having to search for them later. This feature works especially when I have multiple deadlines.

I agree that the it is extremely annoying that the email message layout will not stay open to the full width, because every time you click on an email (or even hover over them when scanning), the right column expands and reduces the message listings again.
Although I like some features of the new format, I am on the verge of going back to the old format because of this major annoyance. Also, why isn't there a way to see just the "viewed" but not deleted email, like before. Now it's mixed in with the new email.

I agree. The right column takes up a lot of space. You can minimise but, as soon as you open the next email, the side column opens up again, showing nothing but the sender's email address/details, which is in the email anyway.
