SPAM has been overwhelming as of late.

I've had my AOL email account for years. I've always received, as well as the people I know who also use AOL, a fair amount of SPAM. When I say a fair amount, for me I'm referring to about 200 SPAMS a week. That is until a month or so ago. Now I'm receiving over a thousand SPAM emails weekly!!! It's absolutely ridiculous. I've tried about everything I know to stop this excessive "****" but nothing seems to work. And yes, I've tried the SPAM blocking via AOL although the limit is 1,000. I RARELY receive SPAM on my gmail or outlook accounts. Whatever they're doing to control SPAM, AOL needs to do the same.

I was NOT receiving any spam mail for years. This year (2022) starting with May or June, your automatic spam filters are no longer working. I use IMAP to a 3rd party client (Outlook). To contribute to your spam candidates do I have to login to your site and right-click and choose "Report Spam", or can I just drag the spam form my inbox to my BULK folder locally?

It should be no surprise that they're doing something evil with AOL. I've been with AOL since the 1990s, as have most of its users. Spam is suddenly getting through to regular email, and regular email is going through to spam.
Most people don't regularly check their spam folder. They will miss out on important stuff--like paying bills.
Friends that I've written to for 20+ years suddenly have emails go to spam. I click "not spam" for them, but their next emails go to spam, too. My family has ordered from Amazon for many years, and Amazon responses about the orders are suddenly spam. AOL knows Amazon (the biggest sender of email in the world) is not spam. This has to be INTENTIONAL.
From AOL Support:
... "Hi ****. The more often you mark these emails as Not Spam, the more you train your personal mail filter to recognize them as legit. I'm sorry there is no quick fix for this."
Creepy! AOL why are you doing this? Yes, I have a gmail account, but you can't trust Google, either! -

The current blocking system works for people who make comments because you block everything. But the blocking system for spam does not work at all! FIX IT!!!!!!

Your selection to target spam, which is not spam, and to make spam when it is legitimate emails has created a loss of timely emails and lost vital information. I'm paying a monthly fee for garbage. I'm ready to discontinue service without prompt modification of your spam policy.

spam - I checked off, only allow email from those in my contact list. That doesn't worth a hill of beans. Got more spam now than ever. 30 spam emails a day, list to block isn't long enough. I'd have to remove a site to add a new new. Disgusting

Hi team. I just discovered, and my friendly AOL tech confirmed, that on the email page where the folders are listed on the left column of the page, the counter next the the Spam heading was recently removed! I actually use that function to monitor my spam folder at a quick glance. I can understand making changes, but why remove a useable function when it all it is is a little piece of information? At least make it optional to remove.
Thanks. -

Ahhh, you know that AOL is doing NOTHING to reduce spam ads...they get PAID for all of them...AOL is a total tool and ONLY cares about their bottom line, i.e., $$$$$$$$

There should be a way to block spam, without having to add sites you want to your contact list.

I've been receiving more & more spam emails & the one thing they all have in common is a generic "pic" is placed where the Spam box is located in front of my messages so I wanted to make sure aol was aware of this..

The good news is most unwanted advertising is going to my span file. The bad news is I have to sift thru hundreds of spam each week, because some things which go to spam is legitimate email. The "unsubcribe" option is a joke. Is there anyway to stop ALL spam ever coming to my computer? If it starts with GoldWild@ or Stayathome@? There are hundreds of different variations of spam which start with these. And I am not interested in any of them.

New spam filter is a disaster!!! It places spam in my email folder and categorizes more than half of my desired email as spam. I now have to regularly go into the spam folder and fish out my desired emails and send them to my in box. Please reinstate the old spam filter. The new one does NOT work as intended!!!

I am being bombarded with spam from advertisers that start with:
- GoldWild
- mail@
- mail@stayhome
- stayathome@I keep unsubscribing but this is not stopping them. AOL needs to develop a procedure where we can unsubscribe thru AOL, so it not only doesn't go to "spam" but never gets anywhere. Taking too long to monitor the mail which goes to spam, because some things are not spam. Going thru the motions on "unsubcribe" is a joke.

Find a way to block all the unsolicited ads before they even get to the Spam file. For the last few weeks, have received a rash of junk. They have a common name like, "mail @.....". or "stayathome@.....". The last the worst. Taking forever to go thru the "unsubscribe" routine. And does not seem to be working, even after the 10 day warning. I want any variation that starts with "stayat home" to be blocked before it gets to Spam file. Takes too long to survey to see if anything should not be in Spam.

Make your spam blocker work. I have unsubscribed to dozens of spam emails by doing it the way you say, i.e., open the email then hit "spam," then hit "unsubscribe." I often get a message like "Oops, something has gone wrong, but, don't worry, all future emails from this address will go to trash or spam." Not one has actually worked.
