I am reasonably sure the dramatic increase in spam directly correlates with the AOL spam filter subscription service. By not signing up for the subscription, all filters are removed and emails accounts are flooded. I am routinely getting 100 spam emails a day and sometimes much more than that. To make that happen there cannot be a filter of any kind in service.
