No need to worry, you can still use your own preferred email application. You may need to update your account settings in third-party programs to use a more secure approach. By default, we block access to your email account if you are using outdated apps that could leave your account vulnerable. Can I take the app off and still keep AOL?
I like AOL but the getting e-mail in the app is distracting. I would rather just get my e-mail through the regular e-mail way.

You can leave it alone! I've been perfectly happy with my AOL account. Now I have to change it?
No wonder you are experiencing delays and systems issues? You've given all of your users a 10/20/2020 deadline and now everyone is scrambling to make changes. I do not even understand what you are asking me to do? AOL has merely been convenient but I also have a gmail account so I think I'll just move everything to gmail.
As we all know, technology is continuing to change and improve. While the connection you have been using may still work and was once the best, a better, more secure option is available. Basic auth is an older authentication method. A more secure authentication method called OAuth2 is now available. To ensure your account remains secure, we are requiring all applications to support OAuth2. See here more info: https://bit.ly/AOLAppPassword

You’ve created a disaster!
Let me receive my email thru my iPhone. I can’t get any of my emails now on my phone! This app **** is total BS. It doesn’t work. Time to dump AOL. Put things back the way they were. Always have to ***** with something!

If your account is still signed in to an app using basic authentication on October 20th, we will block access on that application as a security measure until you make updates to your account. This does not mean you will lose your email. You have other options to access your email. See more info here:

User Troubleshoot on AOL website
Troubleshoot Section on AOL website allows the user to go to that site can resolve the problem i.e font too small, contacts are duplicated, contacts are listed by first name (duh)? Rather than call (wait) and talk to TECH.
The trouble trouble shoot section was on the old AOL website

Nice App, but one big glitch ...
I have been an AOL user for 27 years (since it was a Macintosh User Group accessed by dial-up modem). Just downloaded the new app and have tested it heavily the past 2 days.
Overall, quite functional and intuitive. I’m using an iPhone 8. But there is one big glitch, which needs to be fixed.
When I click email links from companies whose apps are installed on my phone, the AOL app fails to launch the apps! My “old” email program ALWAYS opens the apps that correspond with my email links. This is a fundamental function for a smart phone—knowing…
