How do I delete auto added contacts

I have tried to edit mail contact and go from one to another without returning to the contact icon. Your app is terrible. Switching to Gmail. Much more efficient.

Well! I contacted AOL and explained the problem. The option to auto-add, or not was discontinued a while ago. However, the representative suggested this,"You can disable the Enhanced Suggestion feature by going to Options---> Mail Settings---> Compose tab and uncheck "Enhance email address suggestion when composing new emails" option." I deleted all of the unwanted contacts in my contact list and unchecked the above feature - last week. So far, no unauthorized e-mail addresses have appeared. I will check my entire contact list weekly.

Hi - I found this useless bit of information from AOL. I tried every way I could think of to "mouse" over the unwanted e-mail address and click "x", and this doesn't work. I wonder if they try these suggestions out, beforehand.
Manage Contacts Auto-Suggestions in AOL Mail
Auto-Suggest cuts out the inconvenience of hunting through your contact list before writing an email. Learn how suggested contacts work and how to remove them.
Auto-Suggest saves you time and hassle by filling in email addresses for you. Enter part of someone's name or email in the address fields and get a list of relevant contacts, lists of contacts, and suggestions to include, based on how often you interact with them.
Order of Auto-Suggestions
The contact auto-suggestions that you receive are based on your interactions with those contacts and sorted in the following order:1. At the top - Contact lists will be displayed in alphabetical order.
2. In Between - Contacts that you've interacted with the most will be displayed first, followed by contacts with fewer interactions (sent emails). This is not in alphabetical order
3. At the bottom - Contacts with no interactions will be displayed in alphabetical order.Notes:
• Your contact auto-suggestions are not ordered exactly the same as the contacts found in your Address Book.
• Your auto-suggestions are private and will never be shared with others.
Hide contact auto-suggestions
You can hide unwanted suggestions in order to improve the accuracy of your suggestions. Hiding a contact suggestion will not remove the contact from your address book.
1. Click Compose.
2. Begin entering an email address or contact in the "To" field.
3. When the unwanted contact appears, mouse over it and click X. -

How do I edit a contact in the AOL APPLICATION?

Yes, I have the same problem. The drop down menu seems to have taken on a life of its own. It has e-mail addresses I didn't add but were automatically added, and working from a desktop, there is no option in mail settings or options to prevent this . I believe at one time, there was, but no longer.

After downloading the mobile app, I went to my desktop and deleted contacts, as per above. However, the original and very bloated list still appears in the mobile app, even after a hard shutdown and reboot.

This doesn't work because they don't sync. The auto added contacts remain on the app even after you delete them from the desktop contacts. Why can't we edit it from the app?

1. Just because I send an email doesn’t mean I want a contact created in each of my email accounts let alone one account
2. Should be able to edit and delete an email address, currently can’t.

If the August 3, 2018 response is in reply to my post of September 17, 2020, that doesn't solve the problem. The problem is duplicate and additional e-mail addresses on the DROP DOWN menu, which appears when you are typing in the "TO" line. I can't get rid of the unwanted addresses in the drop down menu, and it just started happening. Also, now when I start typing in the "TO" line, the drop down menu shows the start of the complete contact list, no matter what letter I type in. Is this clear?

I just noticed I have duplicate contacts, on my contact drop down list - but not on my contact list. I can't delete the duplicates and I didn't add them. How do I get rid of them?

The splash page for signing in won’t hold a secure connection on either the app or mobile sign on through the official aol.com website. I don’t mind the constant signing in as per security reasons but I’m not able to sign in at all, it’s been that way for 2 days. Inconvenient as I am waiting on very important emails. Please look into this AOL!!
Thanks!
