YOU SHOULDN'T NEED A CELL PHONE NUMBER TO SIGN UP!
I have already had one email address seriously compromised and spamed and I do not want to HAVE TO give you my cell phone number so I can get more spam calls. That is ridiculous! What if I didn't have a cell phone anyways?

I do not own a mobile phone because of my old age. Why can't I have the option of providing a landline phone # as back-up security?

Requiring a mobile phone is discrimination against disabled people who may have home monitoring but have no need of a mobile phone. I myself don't have one and don't need one. I suggest you consider the legal implications of locking out users because they have no mobile phone. I am considering taking this up with government channels who oversee such types of discrimination.
