   Again... Show me an organization that doesn't have any "hands in the cookie jar"... And I'll show you a very rare organization, union or otherwise! And while I'll disagree with your choice of words... It is the NLRB's JOB to "bend over backwards" in support of cooperation between workers AND employers... Just as Congress has tasked and authorized them to do! Although I don't have the stats at hand to provide as evidence... If I did, they would show that unionized workers' wages are something like 13% higher than their non-union counterparts. That same figure applies to the difference between non-"right-to-work" states, and neighboring states that have the mis-appropriately named "right-to-work" laws! Consequently, the communities that have a higher density of unionized workers benefit generally in a number of ways, with a higher tax base, more successful and profitable businesses, better infrastructure, etc, etc...! Ultimately, if it were me deciding... I'd prefer to not have to have unions! Unfortunately, we don't live in that world... and therefore... I believe unions are often an absolute necessity!

   IF a union wins certification, Serious... The company is required by law to negotiate in good faith to reach an agreement! Unfortunately, far too many refuse to do that, which results in all kinds of unpleasant legal and labor actions! From my experience and observation... The main reason companies object to unions is because they believe they need to maintain total control of every aspect of their business, and refuse to consider any request to deviate from their plans... even to accommodate their employees... who do the actual work which earns their revenue and profits! In my mind... that's a win/lose situation... that doesn't have to be! The CEO of a major American corporation once said that his company's responsibility was first to the shareholders... then to the customers... and lastly to the employees. Which is exactly opposite of the philosophy that produced one of the fastest growing economies on the planet. Not to say that labor relations in Japan are perfect and infallible. However, the predominant philosophy there is to take good care of the employees, who will take good care of their customers, resulting in substantial rewards for the shareholders! In my mind... that's a win/win situation... which is what they all should be!

   But, it's illegal for unions to use any portion of their member's dues without their consent! Most all political contributions by unions are made through PACs which members contribute to voluntarily. And, just as corporations and any other contributors do... They only make those donations to politicians who are most likely to provide benefit to the donator's desires. A union's desires... along with their legal obligation... is to represent the best interest of their members! Gosh... THAT's such a terrible thing!

   "Be a unicorn if you want!" Really, Dave??? Are you suggesting... That I live in some kind of delusional fantasy world? If that's the case, I'd suggest that it's YOU who live in the fantasy world, and refuse to recognize the reality of the world we DO live in! The reason I say that is because the REAL world is far greater than either you or me... And demands that WE adjust to IT... versus the other way around! But that will never happen unless and until we recognize that fact... and are willing to make adjustments and compromises! Part of that real world... that you seem immune to recognizing... is that any process of transitioning is closely monitored and regulated by medical and psychiatric experts who know... far more than either you or I... what is appropriate... or not... in any particular case! Cutting off body parts is not even an option unless and until it is considered by everyone involved as a reasonable and logical option! No one believes this is as simple as getting a prize out of a box of cracker jacks! But all of that is putting the cart before the horse... as this kind of legislation has absolutely nothing to do with that level of treatment! It does however, have everything to do with our ability to have access to the HUMANITY aspect of LGBTQ issues... and how our children... and you... view, understand, and respond to it... as I discussed above!     You make a valid point, Vette… How could anyone object to a law that ‘protects’ our children from exposure to these sensitive elements of our society? And, why should schools even be ‘teaching’ these things to them? The problem is that these laws are viewed through very narrow, agenda-colored glasses. And far too often, they are viewed without considering the broader, less-than-intended, and less-than-productive consequences! In addition to objections presented in THIS article… Here are a few examples from other articles: There are virtually no known or documented school curriculums for K-3rd grades that include any “teaching” of LGBTQ+ issues. Which means these legislations are an alleged “solution” to a problem that literally does not exist. But rather… Brandon Wolf, of the LGBTQ advocacy group Equality Florida, said the laws are a “policy objective … to roll back civil liberties and progress… through fear and manipulation…” In Tennessee, a measure reads: “The promotion of LGBT issues and lifestyles … offends a significant portion of students, parents, and Tennessee residents with Christian values.” The measure bans textbooks or classroom materials that “promote, normalize, support, or address” LGBTQ “lifestyles.” Tiffany Justice, co-founder of Moms for Liberty, says its mission is to defend parental rights. “They’ve had enough.     (… page 2) In other words, while advocates say these laws are intended to “protect the children” … the real purpose is to protect the moral sensitivities of Christian students, parents and residents! Just take a look at the happy video of DeSantis signing Florida’s Don’t Say Gay legislation, surrounded by a group of 6 to 8-year-olds clapping cheerfully in approval. Don’t tell me that’s not sending kids the message of… See how good we are… see how we protect you children from “them”! Even more, the laws are not simply objecting to discussion of LGBTQ issues… they are in fact declaring it a disease… with the verbiage in one state’s legislation saying that their (so called Don’t Say Gay) law is needed to fight a “transgender contagion!” What is that??? Something like the plague! Logan Casey, a senior policy researcher and adviser at MAP, said the laws restrict the ability of teachers and schools to help students deal with personal questions and issues, or to help them “learn from our past and reflect the diversity of the world around them and prepare them for the future.” (continued… )

    (… page 3) Children, even as young as 5-years-old, have questions… and those questions need answers! Unfortunately, far too often, children are not comfortable approaching their parents to discuss their questions and/or feelings, or they already know they won’t be readily accepted. Lacking an avenue to discuss their feelings is one of the main reasons the LGBTQ+ community has one of the highest rates of suicide in the nation! “The bills today,” Casey said, “have removed all pretense. They are just saying flat out: ‘You cannot talk about these issues in any classroom’”… with anyone… for any reason! Anti-LGBTQ legislations are truly nothing more than a right-wing ‘cancel culture’. Only now we’re not simply talking about eliminating books, or statues, or pancake mix! Now we’re talking about millions of individuals… an entire segment of American society! And, a growing number of anti-LGBTQ laws are specifically targeting transgender people! In 2019, 37% of the 60 laws passed were anti-trans bills. 80% of the 191 laws passed in 2021 were anti-trans. And, 65% of the 154 anti-LGBTQ laws passed in just the first 2 1/2 months of 2022 specifically targeted transgender people. So, I’d say there are lots of reasons why people would object to these laws! Because… while they make some people feel comfortable and righteous … they are, in general, not positively productive to our society!

    That you're willing to give Putin far more credibility and trust than Zelensky and other European nations such as Finland and Sweden are willing to give him!

    And they have good reason for not trusting him!

    PLEASE research Putin's history since the fall of the Soviet Union...

    His goal has always been to restore Russia, under his personal leadership of course, to its former glory!

    And, he's shown time and time again that his word, and his promises are not worth the spit it took to say them!

    As for your suggestion that NATO could guarantee to defend Ukraine against Russian aggression...

    Do you actually believe that, after the threats Putin has made to Ukraine, Finland and Sweden's consideration of joining NATO... that he would actually agree to anything like that?

    Not that it wouldn't be preferable...

    EXACTLY WHAT is a policeman's duty?
    He stopped the vehicle for an alleged illegal license plate.
    He gave directions to the driver.
    The driver ran.

    Is it the policeman's duty to then chase after the driver...
    Who ran because of an alleged illegal license plate?

    Is it a policeman's duty to subdue someone...
    Whom he's chased after because he ran...
    Over an alleged illegal license plate?

    Is it a policeman's duty to use lethal force on someone...
    Whom he's subdued after chasing after him because he ran...
    Over an alleged illegal license plate?

    THOSE are the real questions that need to be answered regarding what a policeman's duty is!

    In most cases, in most states...
    Not obeying a policeman's direction is not a capital offense!
    Simply avoiding arrest is not a capital offense!

    Which then begs the question of...
    Who escalated the situation, and...
    Who was being responsible, used wise judgement, and was actually acting within the law?

    I understand the whole, "comply with the cops" argument, and I don't necessarily disagree with it.

    Unfortunately, far too often that hasn't guaranteed a positive outcome!
    And, I'm not making this a racial issue!

    What I'm concerned about is the frequency with which lethal force is used in instances where it is not only unnecessary, but also when it is most likely illegal!

    This incident... where the woman committed a minor, unexplained vehicular hit and run, then inexplicably backed into the cop's car... NONE of which called for the use of lethal force... let alone the use of THIRTY bullets within thirty seconds... necessitating the officer to reload his gun!

    And the other incident recently, where a driver was stopped for an illegal license plate.

    Granted, he didn't comply with the cop's directions... he ran... and when confronted with a taser, attempted to defend himself.
    NONE of which is acceptable, defensible behavior!

    However... NONE of it justified being shot in the back of the head, while laying face down on the ground with his hands restrained, and a knee in his back!

    The problem I have is...
    What... where... how... and why... did law enforcement ever come to believe it's acceptable to use lethal force for issues as minor as a traffic stop?

    Don't get me wrong... there's a reason I'M not in law enforcement... because I wouldn't want to be in any of those situations, or have to make any of those decisions!

    But THAT mentality has to STOP!!!
