Pictures in my emails don't always come through on AOL Gold. I checked my setting are all right .
pictures inserted don't always come through when I get an email from friends. If i forward them to another one of my email providers they come through fine. What'sup after I know my settings are right I checked and double checked. This needs to be fixed soon or I'll have to get rid of AOL after all these years. It's always screwed up when they make these big changes like this. They should cross their t"s and dot their i's before they do these updates.
Go to Edit – Mail Settings – uncheck “Hide images and disable links in mail from unknown senders” (changes are saved automatically). This should fix the problem.

Please make sure you have the latest AOL Desktop Gold version by clicking the “Help” button on the top, right corner of the window, and selecting “About AOL” from the drop-down menu. In the middle of the “About AOL” window, you’ll see the version you have installed.
If the version is lower than 11.0.1648, keep the AOL Desktop signed in for at least 20 minutes then close and reopen the software. The update should automatically upload. If the issue persists after updating the AOL Desktop, please call the dedicated Gold team at 1-888-265-3733

Can not get your most recent update
On 2/27/18 you updated to version 11.0.1648. I have tried at least 6 times to get the update but I did not and still have version 11.0.1630. Each time I closed AOL down and waited 20 minutes but I just can't get it. So now even the updates are not working??
The updates are first released to the AOL Desktop Gold Beta program, and your regular version of the software will receive these updates 1-3 days later, depending on the feedback we receive from our Beta program.

I have been an aol paying customer for, at least, 20 years, I totally dislike the new aol gold. It is almost impossible to block emails that I do not want to receive.
Thankfully, I was able to get in touch with your tech, Raven. He was able to show me how to block a very annoying email, and I want to thank him for his help. He is a very sharp guy!!

We anticipate all older versions of the AOL Desktop software to change over to AOL Desktop Gold over the upcoming year. We developed this new and enhanced AOL Desktop Gold software to replace the older AOL Desktop versions in the market today. To embed pictures in mail, first open a Write mail window, then click on the “Picture” button below the subject box, and select the picture you want to insert in the email. To resize a picture after it was embedded in an email, click on the picture, then drag one of its four corners to adjust its size. Make delete button work again for deleting e-mails
In the mailbox window, I used to be able to use the keyboard's delete button to delete e-mails. Sometimes it will work now, and other times I have to press the keyboard's delete multiple times to get it to delete.
We cannot replicate this. Clear the footprints and try again. Here’s how:
1. In the top left corner of the AOL Desktop window, click “Edit” then choose “Select Footprints to Clear” from the drop-down menu.2. Select “Clear Footprints” from the Browser Settings. No need to wait for a confirmation message, the Footprints will be cleared immediately.

Emails in your Spam folder will be automatically deleted after 5 days.

AOL Gold -- the worst ever?????
I don't know whose idea it was to make Gold, but it is sure worse than the earlier versions. Just try scrolling through the opening pages and see how long it takes. FOREVER! ! ! Then there are a lot more advertisements. Everything has ads and they take forever to load and move on to the next screen. I continually try to use the "Quick Find" in the e-mail address section but it does not find many of my addresses. I need to arrange them in a certain way to see if that address exists, rather than trust Quick Find…
I appreciate your feedback. I’m sorry to hear the Gold experience wasn’t pleasant for you so far. We are updating the software every two weeks.
In case the Quick Find is not finding your contacts when searching by their first or last name, it is possible that the contact does not have their name added to your address book. In this case, it is easier to search by the email address rather than the first or last name, or edit a contact and add their name to your address book.

As you might have noticed we changed the login process in AOL Mail, to a more secure 2 step login, which helps prevent your AOL account from being compromised or hacked.
If your username or email is missing from the login screen, simply double-click inside the “Username or Email” box and select it from the drop-down menu, then click Continue.
In case you are using a password manager, like LastPass or Roboform, the saved login might stop working because the Password field is moved to separate page. In this case, manually type the password on the second login screen and save it when your password manager asks you to do this.

Uninstall older versions ?
Since I have AOL Desktop Gold I want to uninstall my older versions of AOL. I had to call support for problems downloading AOL Desktop Gold and after it was done, they said we aren't suppossed to remove the older versions. Is this true? I don't want excess versions on my computer. Is it OK then to remove them ?
In case you have finished running the import wizard to transfer any emails and other data from the old AOL Desktop to the new one, you can uninstall the AOL Desktop 9.8.2. Mail System all messed up!! Pleaseeee Fix It!!
It was working fine last week!! Someone changed it !! Return to old system!!
In order to disable the delete mail confirmation prompt, please follow these steps:
1. Open the AOL Desktop Gold and sign in.
2. Click on the ‘Mail’ menu on the top left.
3. Select ‘Mail Settings’ from the drop-down menu.
4. Uncheck ‘Confirm before deleting items’, and close the window (changes are saved automatically). -
Examining the impact of the upgrades and changes to customers before application
I believe it's critical for AOL as a company--and for technicians--to work out all the kinks in any changes made to the system or to upgrades to the system. The customer should come before the technical aspects.
As a customer, I have been challenged with many issues since AOL Gold first started. For example, AOL Gold would shut down every time I tried to send an email. Spam mail went into my inbox instead of the spam folder. After sending emails, I would get another "COMPOSE" page as if I'm sending another email even though I did not initiate another…
Due to recent adjustments to the AOL Mail platform, this feature (“Receive emails only from people I know”) is no longer available. In order to block a specific sender, go to the Mail menu and select “Block Unwanted Mail” and add the email addresses in the box below “Block Mail from Addresses I Specify”, then click Save Settings at the bottom, or mark the emails in the inbox as Spam.
Please send us a crash report in order for our engineers to look into the issue you are experiencing with the software closing unexpectedly. To do that, please follow these steps:
1. Open AOL Desktop Gold.
2. Click on Help on the top right, and select Report a Bug from the drop-down menu.

Before the insidious AOL Gold, I could send a photo one of two ways, fast or photo quality. What happened to that?
When choosing the option to send a photo fast, it took far fewer bits, so the captions and text could be much longer. Bring that back.
Click on Mail > Mail Settings > General tab> under the setting “When adding an image to mail:” select one of the three options available. Changes are saved automatically.

Please exit AOL Gold and open it again. After that refresh the mailbox.
Here’s how: Click on the Mail option on the top of the desktop screen and select Refresh Mailbox from the drop-down menu.

Email With Attachments
Can you please review this comment from one of my customers. Their system keeps flagging my emails as spam. I only know of one way to attach documents. Is there another method as they suggest?

weird, but can you ask the sender how they are attaching the attachment

1. Browsing doesn't connect most of the time.
2. Your main page doesn’t even load at times.
3. The stories don’t always match the story on the main page.
4. Email loads slowly or not at all. Many times I get a message to try again in five minutes because AOL cannot access your email.
5. When I go to any Web Site, that site’s web page is automatically added to my Address Book.

To make sure that you have this new update installed, click on the Help button on the top right, and select “About AOL” from the drop-down menu. In case your revision number is lower than 11.0.2007, click on the Help button again and select “Check for updates”, and leave the software open for 10-15 minutes then close and re-open it (in order for the update to be installed in the background).
