The personal filing cabinet is stored in a local database folder, which can be opened by accessing the path below in the Windows Run box (press the Windows key + R): LOCALAPPDATA\AOLDesktopData\db"My computer answers:
"Windows cannot find LOCALAPPDATA\AOLDesktopData\db".The correct path for the AOL Desktop Gold database folder is “LOCALAPPDATA\AOLDesktopData\db” (without quotes).

When is AOL finally going to correct all the AOL Gold glitches?
The idea is for AOL to correct all the problems with GOLD. The software should have not been released to your loyal customers like myself until it was completely ready. Gold is slow, unreliable and aggravating. Desktop shortcuts disappear, mail that shows sent is not always sent. Mail sent to me by friends and customers are not always received. Also, contacting AOL is practically impossible. The automated phone system will not accept voice responses and then I have to press 0 several times only to be connected to customer service when I wanted support. The wait time to get a…

If I write about a purchase I GET SPAM EMAIL about it. Cut it out.
stop reading my emails and then sending spam offers about the purchasing discussion within MY EMAILS.
To permanently block these emails, you will need to adjust you Spam Controls by following the steps below:
1. Open your Mailbox, and click on “Spam Controls” on the bottom right (below the Report Spam button).
2. Add the email address from which you are receiving these unwanted emails in the box below the “Block mail from addresses I specify” field.
3. Set the Blocked Mail option to “Permanently Delete Blocked Mail”
4. Click “Save” at the bottom.
Please note that by settings the Permanently Delete Blocked Mail option, the emails Identified as unwanted based on your Sender Filter (Block mail from addresses I specify) and Content Filter will be permanently blocked (will not go to the Spam folder), and returned to the sender as undeliverable. Since we have to download the frequent updates how do we know when to do that?
If I didn't know about the AOL board that lists updates, which most people don't know about, how would I know when to download them?
Whenever an update is released the AOL Desktop Gold will automatically download them.

Saving a graphic from an email
Now instead of just right clicking on the graphic to save it we have to go to file for that function? That is an extra step. What are you people doing to a program that was once good?? There are now extra steps to do almost everything. AOL is no longer fun. It is torture.
You can right-click on the embedded image you received and select “Save Image as..” from the drop-down menu.

Fix Finance so it doesn't flash through 6 or 8 screens before opening My Portfolio.
Just fix it. It's very annoying!
Go to aol.com/portfolios and the page to the favorites or to the toolbar to easily access your portfolios.

fix the emails, yeah my inbox is back but I am not getting emails I have deleted most of my inbox
You may have resolved the missing emails but I am not receiving new emails, one or two come in very slowly from hours ago, I am waiting on an important email at this rate it might get here in a week. Then it'll be expired!
AOL Desktop Gold is back up and running. Expect some delay as the backlog of emails is processed. All emails will be delivered as we catch up. Thank you for your understanding.

STILL - NO IMPROVEMENTS IN ANY AREA OF GOLD
14 attempts [w/three restarts ] to sign into ebay + others , constant error, message [ URL failed to load ] - slow + erratic email , email spam has increased over 10 fold in past 2 months - non existent local news - biased , outdated , + irreverent news coverage - incompetent tech support + customer service -

I've come to the realization that you will never fix GOLD.
I want to be able to enlarge the type or pic in an open window to see it better. I'm old!
I want my mail separated like it used to be:
Still one too many windows to sign on;
More fonts in writing e-mail selection;
Most of the other **** you changed I really don't use.
30 days to fix or I'm gone! Judging by complaints, you only have 500 customers left anyway or you don't post complaints.

They have no idea what to do to fix all these problems. AND they are in another country and seem confused every time I call for help. Americans aren't available or is this ***** labor.

Please go to myaccount.aol.com and from the Account Options category update your Daytime Phone number, with the number you are calling us from, in order for our automated system to easily find your account in the future.

Hire CSR's that speak the language! It's "America Online"
What should have taken 5-10 minutes to describe and submit my bug report, took two representatives and close to an H OUR! Why are you telling me to drag the windows to resize them?? I clearly said they won't drag. They won't budge. Especially the settings windows. Is anyone paying attention to what I say??
The settings window cannot be resized. If you encounter any issues resizing the browser, mailbox or email window please call the AOL Desktop team at 1-888-265-3733.

Re Different AOL versions - I am concerned
I have AOL Gold yet when I search my programs I don't see it. What I see is below:
9.80 - 2015
9.8.1 - 2016
9.8.2 - 2016from 2017 which is when I downloaded Gold.

AOL Gold Toolbar
EXPLORE LOGO opens to Search AOL, but there is already an AOL Search to the left of favorites on the toolbar. Why take valuable space with duplicates when you could put something useful up there, like maybe access to the printer or something fun. Also, Local News does not have local news. When you go in there and enter your zip code all you get is a search for different things in that area code.
Try to clear the Browser Footprints and then re-add the Zip Code on Welcome Screen. Here’s how:
1. In the top left corner of the AOL Desktop window, click “Edit” then choose “Select Footprints to Clear” from the drop-down menu.
2. Select “Clear Footprints” from the Browser Settings. No need to wait for a confirmation message, the Footprints will be cleared immediately.
