   I am getting AOL email saying AOL is updating it's mailbox and if I don't do certain things I may lose the email in my mailbox. Is this true, or is it spam? I tried to ask this question in other ways, and I didn't find any. It is hard to find a way to ask questions on AOL.

    That's a common misconception, Rick... But it's not true! (posted for the 5th time, I believe!) The law you're referring to is provided for in Article 26 of the U.N.’s Asylum Procedures Directive (APD). The article “Asylum in the United States,” posted by the American Immigration Council on August 16, 2022, states that the U.N. 1951 Convention and 1967 Protocol both declared that “Asylum is a protection grantable to foreign nationals already in the United States or arriving at the border who meet the international definition of a “refugee.” They define a refugee as “a person who is unable or unwilling to return to his or her home country.” It also pointed out that, “Congress incorporated this definition into U.S. immigration law in the Refugee Act of 1980.” Further, according to the U.N. Human Rights Counsel (UNHRC); "The Convention does not require refugees to claim asylum in the first safe country they reach, or make it illegal if they have passed through another safe country." A perfect example is the fact that a refugee from Bulgaria must pass through as many as seven different countries, yet they can still ask for asylum in England!

    I won't argue with your point in general, Tom...
    However, since I'm not a statistician, I can't provide a technical explanation of my own perspective, other than to say...

    Given the raw numbers...
    69% of drug conviction exonerees are Black
    They are eight times more likely to be exonerated for false **** convictions.
    And 50% more likely for false murder convictions.

    While I realize these numbers don't accurately reflect the entire situation... as you pointed out...

    I do believe they are evidence of a legitimate imbalance in our law enforcement and justice system!

    That fact is recognized by Chief Justice Roberts who wrote that “the law punishes people for what they do and not who they are."

    Which is clearly not the case!

    Unfortunately, that is not likely to change... as "the perceived link between race and criminality is so hard-wired in this country.”

    And due to the fact that we're obviously unwilling to have the pertinent and required conversation... i.e. discouraging and condemning the discussion of CRT, etc...

    It will virtually be impossible "to unmoor [racial discrimination] from our legal system”... or our society!

    I couldn’t find anything about iPads, Bob...
    But you may be referring to the cell phones that ICE is using to monitor immigrants.

    According to the USA TODAY article, “Fact check: ICE program gives limited phones to immigrants for tracking, communication” by BrieAnna J. Frank, April 27, 2022;

    “ICE does issue smartphones with a pre-loaded app to some undocumented immigrants to ensure compliance with release stipulations. But the phones can only be used to access the app – they can't access the internet, load other apps or make calls. And use of them dates back to the Trump administration.”

    The article goes on to say that according to ICE…
    “The phones are used as part of ICE's Alternatives to Detention program, which started in 2004 and uses technology to ‘ensure noncitizen compliance with release conditions, court hearings and final orders of removal.’”

    But the devices have had all other typical phone functions disabled, so the phones are "solely limited to the functions assigned for the purposes of participation in the detention program."

    So, my guess is…
    You’ve been listening to sources that have a very biased agenda, which are providing you with a lot of inaccurate information… in other words… fake news!
