AOL AND AOL GOLD HAVE A BIG AND COSTLY IMAGE PROBLEM
AOL, and especially AOL GOLD, have, and have had big image problems for some time. Probably an issue bigger than AOL GOLD's problem riddled operation is the global impression fact that AOL as a company and operation, in general, is joked about and looked upon with disdain and levity by nearly everyone, including its own employees. AOL has become a clear embarrassment to itself, the Online community and day-to-day business world due to its antiquated operational positioning, outlook and operations. AOL is rightly, widely and generally considered a "Grand Parent's" online service and vastly out-of-touch with the contemporary online world. In most instances, I would agree and add that AOL has become a standing and long-running joke throughout the industry and the butt of many accurate criticisms. Image issues and lack of constructive leadership is a primary and ongoing issue. A poor and unhealthy company image can be costly. AOL has failed to learn that a simple, no-cost modification in its operation and direction could increase profits.
