To resolve the slowness and performance issues, please try the troubleshooting solutions below:
1. Clear the Footprints in the new AOL Desktop. Here’s how you clear the Footprints: a. In the top left corner of the AOL Desktop window, click “Edit” then choose “Select Footprints to Clear” from the drop-down menu. b. Select “Clear Footprints” from the Browser Settings. No need to wait for a confirmation message, the Footprints will be cleared immediately.

3. Enable only the essential startup programs. Multiple programs may have been set to start automatically when a computer is turned on. These programs may cause the computer to slow down, and affect other running applications. After YEARS of reporting the same issues, I find myself doing it again following your update. The typing is once again delayed when using ONLY AOL Gold. The browser is slow to respond, The mailbox is very slow to respond and skips arouund when you go to save a email into one of your folders. The cursor jumps all around while trying to type emails or use the broswer. These things DO NOT OCCUR on OTHER WEBSITES, ONLY ON AOL. Like I say each time I report the same 'bugs' over the years, I PAY YOU and yet the issues continue to happen. I've been with AOL for over 25 years. It's NOT loyalty that keeps me with AOL. It's laziness to have to change my email addresses on too many places! My family think I'm stupid to stay with a company that charges me for this level of quality service. Please FIX THE ISSUES THIS TIME. Thank you.

FIX AOL..... GOLD..... TAKES 3-4 MINUTES TO LOAD AND THEN GOES HAYWIRE WHILE USING IT. JUST TIRING ! DON'T WANT TO GO TO GOOGLE BUT IT IS LOOKING BETTER EVERY DAY. AOL GOLD IS GETTING WORSE AND WORSE AND WORSE.

I'm currently going through my email and I have to wait a few minutes sometimes for pictures to load up. On my yahoo and gmail accounts, picture loading is near instant, but not on aol.
It might be helpful to include a little percentage bar or timer of some sort with email so the user knows how long to wait for pictures to appear. I don't remember if aol 9.8 had a feature, but email was a lot smoother.

There is latency whenever I move the tabs around. It doesn't follow real time // black lines around the tabs too

I pay a lot of money for email. I am recently strongly angry because of the slowness of my system. Sometimes it will not come up at all!
I pay almost $30 a month and all I use is email. What is wrong that you can't make it smooth and easy.
Why do I have to endure endless commercials when this is a free service from other carriers?
Why are you pushing political agenda's on me when you should appreciate my business!

Everything about AOL Desktop Gold email is slow slow slow - actually everything about AOLDG is slow. Actually unusably slow. Have tried all of the inane support recommendations (Restart computer? Please!). Fix or I'm gone. There are other options that are more appealing every day.

why is aol so sluggish lately ? because when you go to delete or permament delete...it does not want to delete and have to press it several times....sluggish lately does not want to go fast and i agree like old version better than newer version of aol but like the darker blue background better but liked the arial writing in e-mail box better... right now trying to type this and not typing it had to retype this not good what is going on....also again need to put advertisement on the bottom of e-mail box like before not on side...very distracting...at least you could hide it on the bottom if you did not want to see it on the side you have to pull the box way over to the right to get rid of the distraction better on bottom...thank you...please let me know why so sluggish thank you

This Gold is still terrible - it is slow, it continues to be unresponsive, deleting things takes FOREVER - it still lacks the best features of 9.8.2, and it is an awful experience. I try to avoid it as much as possible - are you EVER going to deal with all of the millions of complaints?
