In either General or Browser settings, provide an option to disable the Welcome Screen. It is a memory hog and cause AOL Desktop Gold to freeze or randomly lock up.

    Eliminate a known memory hog item from AOL DT Gold and more users might be inclined to use the program or sign up for the service
