The previous protocol allowed one to have multiple emails open on screen simultaneously and to order them (overlapping) as needed, and in a way that allowed subject-line/date/etc to be visible and findable.
The new protocol of all open emails existing simply as tabs in a single box is counterproductive. You can't change the order or see the subject, so useless for easy toggling.
