I agree!!! I cant use background color or text color. And Im having a hard time with copy & paste. Sometimes it works and sometimes not.

Bring back 9.8,,, don't try to fix something that is not broke.

Paying for gold is just plain silly. My mail waiting to be sent was not forwarded, autofilling addresses is gone, it's slower and sometimes need to reboot to get it going again. Emoticons stink, and the ads on the side of emails makes my eyes hurt. I miss my buddy list and some of my faves never made it here. So what was the point? And whats the difference between inbox and new email?

Gold is NOT ready to use. Very poorly set up. Bring back Blue until you have it correctly. Listen to me, I'm paying for this!

Gold is BAD! Have been AOL user for almost 20 years. Gold has motivated me to look for another more friendly service (free or pay) in lieu of Gold!

The new Gold AOL has so many bugs that I won’t name them all here. All of the things that made the previous version so great have been removed or made difficult to follow. Below are the ones that I desperately miss from the last version.

1. “My Favorites” has real problems, which is the most important to me:
a. I can’t open Favorites that I saved on a different disk with the old version because there is no “open” in “File” at the top left.
b. I can’t edit “My Favorites”. I have tried to correct spelling or to rename a file. One of two things always happens. Either no change is accepted, or the entire file is deleted (I have lost several!!!)
c. I can’t manage “My Favorites” by saving the list somewhere else, etc. PLEASE FIX IT SO THAT I CAN HANDLE “MY FAVORITES” THE WAY THE LAST VERSION ALLOWED ME TO DO SO SIMPLY!!!!!
d. I opened my Favorites, clicked on "Manage" at the bottom, and clicked to save Favorites somewhere else. When I tried to open that it after saving, I got the message that "Windows can't open this file". How do I open the Favorites I saved as instructed by this new "Gold" version?

2. Sometimes I use a lot of websites when browsing and AOL begins to slow down. The last version of AOL let me delete my browsing history during browsing by just clicking on “Edit”, clicking on “delete browsing history” and then “yes”. Now when I click on “Edit” I am sent to another page with several choices, which is very confusing. PLEASE BRING BACK THE EASY WAY TO DELETE BROWSING HISTORY DURING THE BROWSING SESSION!!

3. AOL frequently freezes, which it didn’t do in the last version.

4. I used to be able to see what pages I had been using during browsing and could return to one if I wanted. NO MORE!! When I try to return to the last page of browsing, it isn’t there. Instead, the name of a category, usually AOL search, is there. PLEASE BRING BACK THE ABILITY TO RETURN TO A PAGE I HAVE USED DURING THE BROWSING SESSION SO THAT I CAN COMPARE WHAT WAS ON THAT PAGE WITH THE PAGE I AM ON. CAN’T DO THAT NOW!!!!!

I want to find an article that I looked at during my browsing, but if I use the arrow to find the page, I am sent back to "AOL search". The old version of AOL would have shown the page as though I had saved it as a favorite. Please bring back that special function. I use it more than anything else in AOL!!!!

5. Frequently when I try to open my mail, there is a message that “a problem opening the mail has occurred. Wait 5 minutes and try again.” You don’t know how frustrating that is!!! It never happened on the old version.

6. This new version won’t remember window size and location! I have to keep resetting it. No problem with the old version!

7. The new version takes a very long time to open!!!! It takes even longer to open each new mail received. Moves like “snail mail”, so slowly that I can’t believe it. HELP!!!

8. A black square “search” box keeps popping up in the middle of the window and blocks what I am reading. It comes from this “new” version because “AOL” is at the top left corner of the box. (I have sent copies several times to the “aolsupporthelp.com” which is now referring me to this location.)

9. I can’t set my city to find the temperature. I keep getting Los Angeles. I live in Reseda, not Los Angeles, where the temperature is always higher. I was able to set the temperature with Reseda, CA.

10.. Since the new version is so terribly put together, the least you could do is let me use the previous version. You are forcing me to use the new version which is the worst thing I have ever seen!! I have already loaded Mozilla, and will be using it until AOL is fixed. If it isn’t fixed, I will leave AOL completely (ceasing to pay for it). FORCING PEOPLE TO USE THE NEW VERSION WILL KILL AOL!!!! BELIEVE IT!!!!

11. What made you think that what was done in the Gold AOL was an improvement when most of the things that made the previous version great were eliminated!!!!! WHOSE BRIGHT IDEA WAS IT????????

12. My "lovely" new AOL version just gave me another problem. I can't open a website for the California DMV, a site that I recently used when I renewed a vehicle license. Here is the thing that pops up every time I try to get into the site:

Failed to load URL https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/ with error ERR_CONNECTION_RESET (ConnectionReset).

This is happening sometimes when I try to reach other sites on my "Favorites".
What must I do to get into the sites as I always did???

I solved the problem about getting into the DMV site by leaving AOL and going to MSN, where the site came up at once.

These are the worst problems. There are more!!!!

Agree, GOLD is far worse than prior AOL Desktop and even the free service Verizon provided to subscribers (before they bought AOL) which was worse than what even pathetic Comcast had. Makes Comcast email look good and its free with internet. Rethinking entire relationship with everything owned by Verizon.

Everything seems to have gotten so much worse with Gold, been here since '99. Doesn't block screen capture by whoever, and blocks sites I've been reading for years (alt news) which is why I use Shield for small stuff and (used) 9.8 when I wanted to write to friends and/or drag and drop an article. We've sunk to the bottom now....best part is that you can cancel it!!!!!!

GIVE US BACK THE 9.8 NOW!!!

Give us back the features of 9.8.2. You are charging us for a junk version of AOL and after 20 years as a charter user I deserve better treatment.
