I shouldn't have to pay for less...
The message window always pops up too small. I have to widen it to see messages clearly. It’s fine when I stretch it out, left to right, but I wish it would stay that way (my preference). I have to constantly reset it every time I boot up the window. I should be able to set the column widths and have them stay where I set them, permanently. It’s very annoying to have to reset them each time I go to my mailbox.
The old mailbox version allowed the user to see the sender’s address, and the entire subject, simply by placing the cursor on the address or the subject, before opening the message. This was a convenience that shouldn’t have been eliminated.
When I try to drag messages to a file, the file box scrolls uncontrollably, even if I widen it to see the full file name. Also, in the old version, the file name would highlight when you placed the cursor on it. This doesn’t happen anymore, so it’s not certain that the user is dragging to the correct file, even though the window pops up, afterwards, telling you what file it’s going into. Again, a nice (common sense) convenience that went away.
The subsets, ‘New’ and ‘Old’ messages, are useless and unnecessary. Take them out! If it ain’t broke, don’t fix or change it!
The ‘Mark Unread’ button works only in the Old Message mode. Plus, it doesn’t return the message to bold text like it used to. Again, ‘ain’t broke, don’t fix’.
Finally, since I’m a paying member, I should have the option to remove the ad box that’s stuck to the right side of the mailbox window. It prevents me from widening the window to its maximum width. Make it a separate window that can be closed and restored at the user's discretion.
The old version of AOL was intuitive and easy to use. AOL Gold…IS NOT!!! Please fix it or I may reluctantly change to another e-mail provider; which would be a major inconvenience. Thank you!
Thank you for your feedback, will send it over to the AOL Gold desktop team, making sure the features you mentioned become a priority and will be added in the future releases. Currently, we don’t have an estimated time frame, but we hope the majority of the features our members are asking for will be implemented soon.
To adjust window size, please follow these steps:
1. Drag one of the four corners of the mailbox window to your desired size and position.
2. In the top right corner of the AOL Desktop, click “Window” then choose “Save Window Size and Position” from the drop-down menu.
Please keep in mind that the setting will not work if the window is set on full screen.
