Same issue here, so I agree with all previous complaints. 3 months after AOL Product Support responds that they're "working to fix it" and no change?! This is totally ridiculous that I'm prevented from using any emojis at all any more because everything sent and received is converted to hyperlink. And I'm PAYING for this aggravation! My kids have been telling me to drop AOL for years now, but I've been holding out so far. It may not last much longer, though, because this AOL Gold is definitely not satisfactory for me to deal with for reasons other than this emoji debacle as well.

When composing an email with emoticons, emoticons are being read out as hyperlink, text. Already changed the settings in webmail but doesn't sync in to AOL desktop Gold

Everytime I get emojis sent to me at my AOL EMAIL ADDRESS they show up as hieroglyphics and strange combinations of letters. This does not happen when they are sent to my gmail account. When I first started using AOL Gold I was able to receive and see emojis in my AOL emails.

No smiley picture. Recipients of my emails get a string of numbers instead. And where are the old smilies? When are they coming back? They were promised long ago among so many other things.

Mine is doing this also. Hopefully it will be fixed soon. Just started a few days ago.

Stop messing with incoming email symbols & pictures. I've have different people with different internet services send me emails and they put little cute symbols or pictures in their emails,, BUT ALL I GET IS A BUNCH OF LETTERS!!!! AOL is the problem because it has happened with senders from MSN & GMAIL. IT NEVER HAPPENED WITH THE OLD AOL DESKTOP!!!!! GIVE US BACK THE OLD AOL DESKTOP. WE HATE THIS GOLD JUNK. IT REALLY SUCKS BAD.

Dont just fix this emoji problem. Get rid of these creepy little graphics and give us real emojis in color.
Am also still waiting forever for carousel icons which was promised. -

When I try to add these horribly inferior looking emojis to an email, I too get letters instead of the imoji. I just tested it and got \uD83D\uDE0E instead of the picture. Something so simple and yet AOL Gold can't even do this right. I am so fed up with AOL. I post problems on this board and on Report a Bug and not only is nothing fixed but I don't even get a reply or any kind of assurance.
And what is this "Inbox" in the emails for? Why do we need this? it just confuses. I read on this board that it is supposed to hold both new and old mail but mine only holds new mail. I could go on and on with other problems but what is the use. It feels like I am paying a monthly fee to be tortured. Two of my friends just quit AOL after many years and I just may be next.

Logos added to emails are not received by receiver - just a non-descript image.
