Answer emails from customers with security concerns...really its not that hard!
I don't see another location on AOL's website for this question/concern. This certainly appears to be a phishing attempt.

If this was you, please create an app password as you've enabled Second Sign-In Verification.
Steps for creating an app password are:
Visit https://login.aol.com/account and sign in to your AOL account.
Look for "App passwords", and click "Generate password".
Use your app password to sign in again.
If this wasn't you and you believe someone may have tried to access your account, please change your password by visiting: https://login.aol.com/account/change-password and update your account recovery information.

The reason why you were unable to respond to this email, is because it was sent from a no-reply address. The email you received is a legitimate message from AOL, and it was sent to you because we detected that you had a failed attempt to sign in. In case, you are trying to setup your email account on a 3rd party email client or mobile email app, please follow the steps below to create an application specific password for your email application.
1. Visit https://login.aol.com/account and sign in to your AOL account.
2. Look for “App passwords”, and click “Generate password”.
3. Use your app password to sign in again, or configure your account in an email application.
