why am i getting so much spam ?
why am i getting so much spam ?
The best way to resolve this is to mark the emails as “Spam”, that way you can train the spam filter to better identify unwanted emails in the future. You can also block specific senders by going to the Mail menu on the top left, and selecting “Block Unwanted Mail” from the drop-down menu, then adding the senders emails address in the Sender Filter’s block list.

put a mark of some kind beside the address of everything in SPAM mail - then if that mark is checked by the user, it WILL be blocked.
I am getting dozens of spam from 'webservice...' and blocking them in your current control box does not work! -

WHY CAN'T AOL PUT JUNK IN SPAM FOLDER AND MESSAGES FROM FRIENDS AND FAMILY THAT ARE IN THE ADDRESS BOOK, IN THE INBOX. AOL KNEW HOW TO DO THAT SIMPLE THING FOR 20 YEARS AND NO LONGER CAN KEEP THE JUNK AND THE GOOD MAIL SEPARATED. WHY HAVE A SPAM FOLDER AND AN INBOX--THEY ARE NOW BOTH THE SAME ---JUNK AND IMPORTANT MAIL IS IN BOTH FOLDERS. GUESS AOL IS NO LONGER ABLE TO DO THIS SIMPLE THING THEY DID FOR 20 YEARS. HERE I COME GMAIL!!!!!!!!

Check out the new inferior spam filter. I have input a number of spam mail addresses and the email just keeps on coming. Does aol not consider these complaints seriious enough to correct?
The same goes for the aol calendar. I had many "reminders" of the past that I would have copied by hand if need be. I thought they were safe on aol ..... goes to show you ... you can't trust any service oriented business. My fault, I guess since I didn't learn when Steve Case did us in!
Why won't you allow our complaints without having to agree to your severely restrictive "terms of service?" -

Spam is now voluminous and I have to painstakingly hand-dump it. Used to be 5 or 6 a month, now 15-20 a week, and many of the same web sites return to that folder over and over. Can someone tell my why the change? Used to be when I dump something it never returns. Why can I no longer exclude a site permanently?

Spam folder has 46 items since yesterday. Can't someone do something about all the ****?
Oh, I forgot. Human eyes never see these posts. A bot just looks for a particular word and then merge with something else. Why do I pay for this ****? I'll have to think about that.

I'd like to have the complete Spam controls back so I can also block spam with inappropriate phrases. I used to have those emails with inappropriate phrases blocked but since that part of spam controls has been taken away, I'm getting way too much spam. Why did you take the extra features of spam controls away in the first place? I had things running fine until the new software program and your taking away a lot of features. The ability to block certain addresses is not working well. I've blocked certain addresses and still get tons of spam from these shysters.

AOL GOLD program needs a Spam setting button to add a selected SPAM email address to the "BLOCK EMAIL" list in one step. You'd think they could come up with this on their own. In fact, it used to be part of the program.

In all my years of being on AOL (since the late 90s) I have never seen the amount of spam that has been coming recently. Since the first of December, I have gotten 197 pieces of spam, 18 just this morning. I'm trying to think of a way to forward them all to you. Then maybe you'd get the idea.
I doubt that a real person will ever see this. I have gotten to think that a bot finds the same word in two posts and them automatically merges them. Sigh!
This is NOT the same AOL that I have used for years. It has really gone down hill. SAD!

I smell a class action lawsuit coming if you don't start paying attention (are you lawyers reading this ?)
