Reinstate IMs! It was a quick, easy and convenient way to contact friends and family who were online. This was especially true for shut-ins and those military families with loved ones deployed overseas. Bring back 9.8.2 instead of forcing subscribers to have GOLD. It's horrible!

1. Would you all please consider reinstating the ability to set up a profile. I would really like someone to at least know a bit about me before they come at me with silly questions that could all be included in a profile.
2. Please consider reinstating the ability to use IM. People come at others via email and it would be so much easier if we could use IMs and block them to only others we wanted to have access to us.
3. Why are there still chat room set up that imply incest. Dads look at dau. Couldn't someone monitor these type of chat rooms and disallow any language that implies adults showing any interest in children. -

After over a year, there have been few improvements to AOL Gold....you say that Instant Msgs can not or will not be replaced that really sucks!!! Is there a reason you cannot bring back our old buddy list??? At least we will be able to see if friends or relatives are online so we go chat in a room. You could make make things easier for your members instead of difficult almost every step of the the way!!! I've seen many changes since 1999 but Gold is the worst one yet!!!!

Can we please bring back the buddylist? I specifically bought aol gold to keep in touch with people but now I'm being told that technicians can't do anything because it was removed, just like AIM? This is ridiculous. This needs to be resolved. I love aol gold but I will discontinue use with this company and take my money somewhere else. I've been using aol for well over 25 years and this is a complete outrage. Bring back the buddylist and maybe, I won't leave.

Give us back the buddy list and the instant messaging!! Aol used to be the best! I think if we get these things back people would leave Facebook and use aol! People are getting tired of Facebook! Loved aol since 2001! I knew lots of people that I don’t even hear from anymore just because aol did away with messenger and buddy list. Everybody don’t use Facebook! People are starting to hate it! Facebook isn’t take over, y’all let it take over!

i been on aol since 4ever...and free. Since gold took over we have no buddy list or Ims. These were very important for me. Why would you do this and make us pay for losing them? You must have lost alot of people.
I sure will cancel if I dont get them back. Your tech people dont even know this. I dont even think you read the feedbacks. I also lost alot of friends. Wake up!!!!! -

Prior to you switching to DESKTOP GOLD, there was a feature that I really liked. When I would log on, a window would pop up in the top right corner. That window showed how many people in my address book (that also had AOL) were currently on line and then I was able to click on their names and chat with them. That window no longer pops up and I miss that feature. Is it still there but I don't know how to get it to pop up again? It automatically did it with the previous version of AOL. When you updated me to GOLD it just disappeared.

AOL IS THE ONLY PROVIDER WHICH CHARGES A MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION. YAHOO, YMAIL; GOOGLE, GMAIL; AND MSN- OUTLOOK, HOTMAIL; ARE ALL COMPLETELY FREE. IT'S FOR THAT REASON SO MANY OF MY FRIENDS AS WELL AS THE THOUSANDS OF SUBSCRIBERS HAVE LEFT AOL, AFTER THE (IM) INSTANT MESSENGER WAS DISCONTINUED. AOL WILL ARGUE ABOUT THE AMOUNT OF CUSTOMER SUPPORT WHICH THEY OFFER, AS ALSO THEIR POSTED LIST OF MONTHLY BENEFITS. TO VIRTUALLY ALL FORMER AOL SUBSCRIBERS, THIS IS NOT A TRADE OFF BENEFIT WHICH CAN BE JUSTIFIED. THERE ARE REALLY NO NEED FOR SUCH A LARGE SUPPORT STAFF IN THE CASE OF THE OTHER PROVIDERS. THE ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE WITH FRIENDS VIA IM WAS SINGULARLY THE MOST ATTRACTIVE FEATURE OF AOL AND IT WAS IN THIS AREA ALONE, WHERE IT STOOD OUT FROM THE COMPETITION.

You have got to bring back the Buddy List and IM's. I like knowing when my friends are online and I miss that. This new AOL is horrible.

It's the one thing I've wished for. AOL is no fun without the buddy list.

Much of what was AOL was the ability to view who was online and to be able to communicate with them through instant messaging. We are paying for a nothing piece of software and had messaging removed rendering AOL Desktop Gold something expensively ordinary.

Many of the AOL users have used the Buddy List to know when their friend are online and the Instant messaging was a wonderful way to "talk" with family & friends... all over the world. Not everyone does Facebook, Twitter or any other social media....We used AOL for that...as a long time user when AOL was on floppy disc....era 90's there were so many loved features that you've discontinued all in the name of progress....some things are better than change and as a paying member I feel that you and Verizon should listen to the members for without them you would be out of business!!!

It's one thing to take away Instant Messages (IM's) but why take away our Buddy List??? It was always a good way to see family and friends that were online at the same time! Now it's a **** shoot... Seems you've gotten rid of many things that members enjoyed through the years, IM's~using our sounds~buddy lists and the list goes on!! Now we have ads in everything ie: the welcome page~ emails~ web sites~ the weather etc.... Can you honestly say its a fair trade-off?? As members we do pay for this service so perhaps you should listen to all the complaints!!!

Taking away our Buddy List has changed AOL drastically and made it very impersonal. With no Buddy List it is no longer fun to be on AOL. Even without IM's we'd be able to see when our friends were online and carry on a conversation in emails.
This, coupled with a non-functioning AOL Gold that we are paying for, makes AOL useless and adds stress and aggravaion to our lives. I can happily go to Gmail and use Internet Explorer for browsing both for free which would also eliminate the horrendous problems I am experiencing with this awful program. Many of my friends have already left and are urging me to do the same.
I've been a loyal member since the 90's and have always loved AOL and urged others to join. For this reason I have not yet left. But my patience is running out. PLEASE GET TECHS WHO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING TO FIX THIS PROGRAM.... AND BRING BACK OUR BUDDY LIST.
