Hackers are trying to access my PC via the right-hand ad side, stating they're from MS and I have a virus and my PC's been compromised! A man's voice comes on saying he's from Microsoft and that my PC's been compromised, along with type stating the same thing where the ads show in that right pane! You need to secure your ads as your software's obviously been hacked, and people who aren't as computer-literate as I am, will click on the links therein! Just thought you'd want to know this!!!
It appears that your computer might be infected with a malware. This form of malware can alter your default browser settings, and injects them with pop-ups. To resolve this, please run a full scan with your anti-malware or anti-virus program.

Why don't you check your ads to assure they're not virus or spam etc??? I pay for this AOL and its disgusting at times.
It was on welcome screen, 60's TV shows and then a LOCKED computer pops up! Really!!! -

When I first sign on & try to read email a warning pops up of virus attack and freezes AOL. I cant close program and have to use task manager to close it. This happens often and my anti-virus program says I have no virus! This is becoming most annoying!!! So whats going on???

Still get virus alerts in your ads and only thing can now is go in to Task manager and close out AOL. It is not my computer and your techs do not know much. So please fix, lots of other people having issues as well.

Most people like me keep the Mailbox open when they read their emails. Over on the right is a box that contains ads. Every once in awhile - not every day - not even every week - a red and white box comes on there and verbally says "Computer Alert! Computer Alert! Do not shut down your computer or you will lose data....."
I've seen this message since Desktop Gold came out. But at that time, all it did was scare me when I was reading email. I closed out of AOL, restarted my computer (even ran my anti-virus software which came up with no problems) and went back in and all was well for another period of time. Now when that error message comes up in the ad box ONLY - not on top of what I'm doing - ONLY IN THE AD BOX - I can't get out of AOL. I can't close my Mail box. I have to ctrl-alt-del to sign out and get out of it. Before I could click on the X on the mail box and the COMPUTER ALERT message would STOP. So it was part of the ad box or it wouldn't have stopped.
I've just spend over half an hour on the line with a tekkie who kept telling me it is my computer. My WebRoot antivirus software runs all the time. I even run it myself daily. I delete all my temps via %temp% and clean out cookies, etc. all the time - every time I leave the internet.
I asked to speak to the supervisor but the person kept trying to help. When she asked me if I wanted to be put through to a person in their "paying service" because "it wasn't an AOL issue", I thanked her and closed the access box. I'm sure I'm not the only one getting this message in the Ad box. Anyone else out there getting it?
So unfortunately my solution for myself is to close my Mail box EVERY TIME I open an email to read so I don't get that STUPID error message in the AD box.
I was trying to help all the members of AOL by reporting it since I'm sure I'm not the only one getting that message - it's red and white and a voice comes on and shocks you. The tekkie even tried to explain to me how to turn off my volume so I couldn't hear it. Can you imagine not having your volume on to listen to videos on-line or go to Facebook and hear people sing? Or enjoy the cute doggie videos? Just because of a stupid red and white "Computer Alert" message in the ad box.
If you've experiences this issue, please call AOL tekkies and report it. I think if enough people do so then they might just see IT'S NOT MY COMPUTER!!

I was unable to close the page and had to sign off AOL to get rid of it. Is this what AOL Gold meant when they said they had better security?? This is not the first time this has happened while viewing your news and I see it has happened to others .I am so disgusted with this non-working program.
I will not call tech. I called them about this in the past and they were unable to help and did not know why this happened.
