AOL not fixing the problem with their adds popping up with a virus alert that locks up the system. They try to say your computer has a virus. Well it does not. I believe AOL is purposely doing this so people spend money on their extras to protect computer. So many people have said this is happening to them, yet AOL will do nothing. They are going to lose a lot of paying customers if they keep this up, I am getting tired of them saying call tech which does no anything.

There are banner ads everywhere. I get that. Revenue is needed to run things. The problem is that you're getting ads that show up in the e-mail box and news boxs that are hijacked. The ad comes up a few seconds later changes to "INTERNET SECURITY ALERT" followed by a warning not to shut things down and to call some 800 number to fix it (it's a scam, of course), The problem is that it also opens up the "Windows Explorer" window and won't let you close it (keeps popping up). The only way to fix this is to control-alt-delete and use task manager to force AOL to shut down. PLEASE get these infected banner ads off your service. They're annoying as ****.

I have had this happen twice while at the Huffington Post.
Plus my email account was compromised a few days ago and someone sent mail to people in my address book. I have been on AOL since the 90's and this never happened before. AOL Gold is very bad with security.

This is the 3rd time that you put an add saying I have a virus, and wants you to download something. Only way can get out of it is to go into task menu and close down AOL. AOL is getting worse, nothing else I do out side AOL give me a virus notice. It is your unwanted ads you throw at us constantly.

One of the news stories put a pop up on the screen for upgrades that locked the screen until I clicked on remind me later. Thanks for the malware.

My AntiVirus software has starting kicking out malware ads coming from your sidebar ad displays on the AOL Desktop Gold side bar screen despite turning off all ADs in marketing preferences. This is quite recent and was never an issue over the last 10 years until now. You need to do a better job at tracking malware ads displayed using your software
