Why will Gold not alphabetize Categories as the previous version did? Do you care that the failure to continue this feature creates work?
Automatically alphabetize Categories and give users the option to list the top [most used ] 3 or five (in alpha order).

It's been a year since your last reply that you're "working on" alphabetizing categories. How much longer?

#1 Bring back AOL 9.8.2, if there need to be additions to AOL 9.8.2 they can be made. Desktop Gold currently is THE WORST disaster ever! Who ever thought it up, did not know what they were doing and did not learn from the good parts of AOL 9.8.2, of which there were many!
#2 AOL Desktop Gold is so bad you need to go to #1 above.
#3 Here is an Example: go to the ADDRESS BOOK, then click on Categories. In AOL 9.8.2 the Categories were alphabetized. The current Categories of Desktop Gold are not and can not be alphabetized. Think about it: if you were to use a dictionary which is not alphabetized, how would that be for you? True the Categories do not have as many words as most dictionaries BUT to look through the Categories takes TOO much time in this overly fast paced world we live in!
#4 Again, go to the Address Book, then look at the Address Card for New Contact, on the right is Category. The Categories are not alphabetized either, where as in AOL DESKTOP 9.8.2 it they were Categorized which made everything so SIMPLE!
#5 NEW CHANGE, FOR THE WORSE: Now when I want to delete something i can not just delete with the push of a button, I have a question and a button to push an answer, then push Delete. I get tons of emails. This makes it more difficult to delete Why make things more difficult, more time consuming. With AOL GOLD you all have made life with AOL frustrating, difficult and MORE time consuming!
#6. I could go on but let's see whether you all can make the above fixes which I have asked to be accomplished many times, to no avail. It would be immensely helpful if you made these simple fixes. -

Please alphabetize contact categories. The Gold system of random order makes it nearly impossible to use. No programmer would think this is a good idea. Make contact categories work like AOL Blue.

There are TWO [2] glaring problems with the Desk Top Gold Address Book, Both have to do with not alphabetizing lists in Desk Top Gold Address Book as WAS done in AOL 9.8.2. [1] The Address Book on the left has a section entitled: GROUPS. There are 3 sub-sections of GROUPS. The second section is entitled: CATEGORIES. The list of Categories is no longer alphabetized!!! In 9.8.2 it was alphabetized. The section CATEGORIES NEEDS TO BE ALPHABETIZED!! Imagine going to a dictionary which is NOT categorized!!!! [2] In the Address Book on the ADDRESS CARD, top line which has L to R: First Name, Last Name and CATEGORIES. The CATEGORIES window has a Category listed,to its right is an arrow pointing down. When that is clicked the entire list of Categories is listed. They are no longer alphabetized as this list was in 9.8.2!! This list needs to be alphabetized! Very time consuming to try to find names when they are not alphabetized! It is unbelievable that these two "Categories" of the Address Book are not alphabetized as they were in 9.8.2!!!! Correct this glaring error! And, the price of AOL has almost doubled but the offerings and service is less than halved!!!

PLEASE PRIORITIZE!!! My "vote" was cast quite awhile ago and nothing has been done! Very frustrating to have to search a scrambled list of CATEGORIES. Groups are done for specific projects. Categorizing is MUCH MORE IMPORTANT!

Before AOL Desktop GOLD- all my emails are assigned a CATEGORY. Before GOLD- these categories were organized to look at- numerically 1st and then alphabetically. For some unknown reason- when GOLD came out- the organization of the categories of email addresses became randomly ordered. I know that the technology exists to make GOLD organize the categories 1st- numerically and then alphabetically as AOL used to be. Please do this ASAP. It is silly to have to search through a list of categories, searching for the right one. Thanks.

Gotta say I'm agreeing with Pamela's frustration. We realize you're working things out, but yeah -- can you focus on alphabetizing Categories? Essentially one of the reasons we've kept our AOL account open. The interface has always given me a better ability to organize e-mails & contacts. Please fix this issue as soon as possible -- now that all of us are paying for the service -- and our flexibility is being taken away. I also don't like the Toolbar . . . which now picks its own logos. But that's relatively minor. My Favorites are a complete mess, but I'm willing to work that out and start over if necessary. But contacts that I've categorized? No. Too much to change on my end.

The 9.8.2 Address Book "Group" Categories were alphabetized. The AOL Desktop Gold Address Book "Group" Categories ARE NOT Alphabetized! Can you imagine a paper phone book not alphabetized? Or a dictionary not alphabetized? It takes forever to find the the category I want. What is wrong with you all? AOL Gold is the dumbest of any AOL editions EVER! I need to have the categories alphabetized. I can not even do it manually! But if 9.8.2 could quickly alphabetize the names of the categories why can't that be done in AOL Gold? Please answer my questions and even better yet, please alphabetize the Categories of the Address Book! I use that ALL the time!! Now it takes forever!!!
